With the Oilers driving, Daniel Smith was intercepted by The Sharks' Caleb Ham who returned it to the Tulsa 16. Payton and Terry capitalized on the turnover for the Sharks when they connected on a four-yard scoring strike across the middle of the end zone. Ware pulled the Oilers to within one score on an eight-yard touchdown run around the left guard. The Sharks drove into Oilers territory, but were unable to score before the end of the half. Jacksonville went up 37-38 at the one-minute warning on Payton's 13-yard catch-and-run touchdown to Jeremiah Payton. The Oilers scored as time expired when Smith found Nance running to the left side. Nance pitched the ball back to Ware, who ran it in six yards for the score.
