The San Jose Sabercats made waves in free agency today by signing three players, including former Portland Thunder defensive back Eric Crocker. The Sabercats also signed former Pittsburgh Power defensive back Virgil Gray and wide receiver Jeremy Kelley, who sat out last season after playing his rookie year for the now defunct Utah Blaze. Crocker, who was Portland's first pick in the expansion draft, led the Thunder with 10 interceptions last season. He also recorded 52 tackles and 12 pass breakups. He spent his rookie season with the San Antonio Talons, where he had 3 interceptions, 70.5 tackles and 13 pass breakups. He was named to the All-Great American Conference in 2011 in college at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He was signed to the New York Jets' practice squad for the 2013 NFL season. The Arena Football League's free agency period started on September 25. Aside from welcoming back 27 of last year's rookies, on September 24, the Thunder have yet to make any free agency moves. The Thunder are going to fall behind if they don't get themselves in gear. All the top free agents are pretty much already gone, aren't they? Losing Crocker really hurts.

Huge loss for the Thunder. Crocker was awesome for us. He won't be replaced easily.
