The following is the complete schedule for the 2024 Major League Baseball Playoffs.
The 2024 MLB Postseason enters the third year of the expanded playoffs, allowing a total total of six teams per league to partake in the postseason, up from five that had been in place from 2012-2021 (not including the 2020 COVID Season). The #1 and #2 seeds in the American and National leagues will receive first-round byes into their respective Division series. The American and National League Wild Cards will expanded from singular, 1-game elimination games to a 3-game series, all to be played at the #3 and #4 seed's home field. The winners will then advance to the Division Series, with the #1 seed facing the #4/#5 winner and the #2 seed facing the #3/#6 winner.
A new champion in both the American and National Leagues will be crowned in 2024, as last year's World Series and AL Champion, the Texas Rangers, failed to make the postseason with a 78-84 record. Likewise, the NL Champion Arizona Diamondbacks (89-73) were eliminated on the final day of the regular season.
Two teams with the longest and second longest playoff droughts will partake in the 2024 Postseason, both from the American League. The Detroit Tigers (86-76, AL Wild Card) and the Kansas City Royals (86-76, AL Wild Card) both make their returns to the postseason for the first time since 2014 and 2015, respectively. In Detroit's last playoff appearance, the Tigers fell in a 3-game sweep to the Baltimore Orioles in the ALDS. Meanwhile, the Royals have not sniffed the postseason since winning the 2015 World Series against the New York Mets in 5 games.
This postseason will also be noteworthy it's the first time since 2015 that there were no 100-win teams in Major League Baseball. The Los Angeles Dodgers fell just short of 100 wins with 98 wins in 2024.
Each round of the MLB Playoffs will appear most recent at the top of the post. Final results will be updated following the conclusion of the games. All game times are listed in the Pacific Timezone (PST). Where applicable, click on the final score to view the MLB's game tracker for the complete box score.
All MLB Playoff Games will be broadcast on Television across six networks. including ABC, ESPN and ESPN2 (AL and NL Wild Card Series), TBS (AL Division Series, AL Championship Series), FS1 (NL Division Series, NL Championship Series), and FOX (NL Division Series, NL Championship Series, World Series).2024 WORLD SERIESNew York Yankees vs Los Angeles Dodgers (Los Angeles wins series 4-1)Game 1 -- Fri., October 25 - Los Angeles (H) 6, New York 3 - 10 in. Three of the Four Wild Card series have concluded.
DETROIT
The Detroit Tigers have advanced to the ALDS, sweeping the Houston Astros 2-0 in the AL Wild Card Series.
The Tigers won their first postseason series since the 2013 ALDS, when they defeated the Oakland Athletics in 5 games. Detroit's victory over Houston also ended the Astros reign of ALCS appearances at 7 consecutive seasons.
Detroit will take on their AL Central division rivals in the Cleveland Guardians. This is the first postseason meeting between the two clubs.
KANSAS CITY
The Kansas City Royals have advanced to the ALDS, sweeping the Baltimore Orioles 2-0 in the AL Wild Card Series.
The Royals won their first postseason series since the 2015 World Series, when they defeated the New York Mets in 5 games. That was also the same season in which the Royals appeared in the ALDS, where they defeated the Houston Astros in 5 games.
Kansas City will take on the New York Yankees in a postseason series for the first time since the 1980 ALCS. The Royals swept the Yankees to advance to the World Series, where they would fall to the Philadelphia Phillies in 6 games.
SAN DIEGO
The San Diego Padres have advanced to the NLDS, sweeping the Atlanta Braves 2-0 in the NL Wild Card Series and advancing to the NLDS for the third time in the past five seasons.
The Padres will take on their NL West and in-state rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers, in the NLDS. The two previously met in the 2022 NLDS, with San Diego emerging victorious in 4 games.

The Cleveland Guardians have advanced to the ALCS.
The Guardians, facing a 2-1 series elimination, fired back to win the series in Game 5 of the ALDS against the Detroit Tigers.
Cleveland will take on the New York Yankees in a rematch of the 1998 ALCS, which the Yankees won in 6 games.
The last time the Guardians and the Yankees faced each other in the Postseason was the 2022 ALDS, claimed by New York in the decisive Game 5.
Cleveland looks to buck recent history, as they've lost their last 3 Postseason series against New York (2017 ALDS, 2020 ALWC, 2022 ALDS).

Congratulations to the Los Angeles Dodgers for winning the World Series! Los Angeles defeated New York in an incredible Game 5 victory that saw the Dodgers down 5-0 going into the 5th Inning. The 5-run inning was tied for the 4th largest comeback in World Series History. A late 8th inning rally to take the lead 7-6 resulted in Los Angeles winning its 8th World Series Championship, and its first since 2020. Dodgers 1B Freddie Freeman was named World Series MVP.
