NOV. 18 -- Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum has sustained a fracture to his right index finger, the team announced today. He will be out at least a month. The second-year guard from Lehigh sustained the fracture toward the middle of the fourth quarter of the Blazers Nov. 17 game against the New Orleans Pelicans at the Moda Center at the Rose Garden. He collected an offensive rebound and was fouled on the play by Eric Gordon of the Pelicans. McCollum will be re-evaluated by team medical staff in four weeks. He is averaging 5.0 points, 1.1 assists and 1.1 rebounds this season. He has played in all 11 of the Blazers games; averaging 13.1 minutes per game. He has made 46 percent of his three-point attempts. McCollum was out for the first half of last season (his rookie year) with a foot injury he sustained in training camp. In his absence, his minutes likely be covered by third-year Will Barton, who is already somewhat in the rotation, and second-guard/forward Allen Crabbe, who saw limited action but has started the past four games in place of the injured Nicolas Batum.
The Blazers rallied to beat the Pelicans 102-93. To comment, please login or register. - ANM

I hate to see anyone get injured, but if Allen Crabbe can get some playing time I hope he can make the most of it. I think he has done well starting since Batum got hurt.

Damn, this sucks. CJ is ready to take the next step and injuries just seem to be stopping him.
