Jan. 18 -- We have received several inquiries as to the reason certain members of the forum were inactive not only on this forum, but on social media in general, between the second week of December through the second week of January.
On December 11, my second-oldest brother was working at one of his construction remodel sites when he was struck in the head by some falling debris. He finished the work day in his office, I assume thinking he had a mild concussion. At the urging of his fiance, he went to the hospital that night. The next morning he slipped into a coma due to an aneurysm. Things went downhill quickly and that day he was in a complete vegetative state. The doctors felt there was no chance of recovery at that point. On December 16, my parents were faced with the most difficult decision of their lives. With great sorrow and difficulty, they took him off of life support.
My brother passed away peacefully in his sleep nine days prior to Christmas and just three days prior to his youngest sister's seventh birthday. He had been engaged for about six months and they were planning on a summer 2016 wedding. He was 25 years old.
This has been a trying time for my family. Essentially, Christmas was canceled at our house and many of us are still walking around in a haze. I am particularly concerned about my parents, who were faced with that devastating decision.
We have been working to clear up My brother's affairs, including his business which was started three-and-a-half years ago. Myself, Angi and Jessica made the decision to put the forum on hold and none of us were interested in patronizing our social media accounts. I had considered asking Julie to keep things going, but I didn't feel that would be fair to her to try and run everything on her own.
As you've seen over the past week or so, my sisters and I are getting back into the flow of things. We anticipate things getting back to normal over the next few weeks.
On behalf of my family, I appreciate the concern that many of you have shown us during this time.
Thank you,
Kassandra
