April 10 - Blazers guard Arron Afflalo will be out for one to two weeks with a shoulder strain, according to team sources.
The Blazers guard, who injured the shoulder while posting up Stephen Curry in the fourth half of the team's April 9 game at Golden St, underwent an MRI this morning which confirmed the strain.
The timeline indicates that Afflalo will miss at least the rest of the regular season, and possibly the first game or two of the Blazers upcoming first-round playoff series. The regular season finale is April 15 at Dallas. The Blazers first playoff game will be either April 18 or 19.
The Blazers are already without guard Wesley Matthews, who is out for the rest of the season with a torn Achilles, and forward Dorell Wright, out until early May with a hand injury.
Afflalo was acquired in a deal with Denver which brought he and forward Alonzo Gee to Portland in exchange for forwards Thomas Robinson and Victor Claver, guard Will Barton and a future lottery protected draft pick. He was brought in to boost scoring off the bench, but has started ever since Matthews suffered his injury.
Afflalo is averaging 13.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in 25 games (19 starts) with the Blazers. On the season, he is averaging 13.3 points 3.2 points and 1.7 assists.
Head coach Terry Stotts may look to start CJ McCollum, Allen Crabbe or Gee in Afflalo's absence.
The Blazers next game is on April 11 when they host the Utah Jazz at Moda Center at the Rose Quarter. The game, which starts at 7 p.m., is the final home game in Portland this season.
