April 21 - Blazers guard Tim Frazier has been named both NBA D-League Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year, it was announced today.
Frazier played 41 games this season for the Maine Red Claws. He posted averages of 16.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 9.5 assists, and led the NBA D-League with four triple-doubles.
He was signed by the Blazers on March 30 for the remainder of the season and through training camp this fall.
Frazier, a 6'1" point guard who attended Penn St., played six games for the Philadelphia 76ers during two 10-day contracts this season. He averaged 5.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 7.2 assists while playing 28.5 minutes per game. He was not retained by the team after his second 10-day contract, which paved the way for the 76ers to sign former Blazer Thomas Robinson.
Frazier played in 5 regular season games for the Blazers, averaging 4.6 points and 3.4 assists in 13.6 minutes. He also made an appearance in game one of the Blazers playoff series against the Grizzlies
He played during pre-season for the Boston Celtics in October 2014.
He will fill the role of the third-string point guard behind Damian Lillard and Steve Blake. The Blazers had an open roster spot after trading Robinson, Will Barton and Victor Claver to the Denver Nuggets for Arron Afflalo and Alonzo Gee on February 19.
Frazier, who will wear number 10 for the Blazers, will likely be available for the Blazers April 1 home game against the L.A. Clippers.

What a great honor. I really think he is going to be a Blazer next season. He has already shown a lot of promise in the little time he has played for us.

Cam, that's great. i hadn't seen it. i was writing a paper, checked twitter and saw the announcement. i think he has a real chance to make the team next year. jusdging from that interview, he has a great mindset. let him learn from Blake and Dame next season, then take over as the backup point guard after Blake retires.

This is great for Frazier. It also tells what kind of player he is. He could be a long-term figure at back-up point guard.

with all the off-season talk, i think we will bring Blake back and let Tim learn from he and Damian, and become the backup pg of the near future.

All Blake has to do is exercise his player option and he's on the roster next year, right? It's a good idea to try and train Frazier over next season. He definitely could be a keeper.
