Portland Thunder Season Preview
The Thunder are 3-4 overall, 0-3 on the road and 0-2 in inter-conference play. They are coming off a 63-47 home win over the Los Angeles KISS on May 16. They are averaging 46.7 points per game (9th in the AFL), allowing 51.7 points (7th), and are averaging 249.4 yards of total offense. The Thunder are second in the Pacific Division and third in the National Conference.
The Predators are 4-4 overall, 2-2 at home and 1-1 in inter-conference play. They are coming off a 63-62 overtime home win over the Tampa Bay Storm on May 16. They are averaging 55.9 points per game (3rd in the AFL), allowing 56.3 points (10th), and are averaging 333.5 yards of total offense. The Predators are first in the East Division and possess the third-best record in the American Conference.

THUNDER
Portland ended its three-game skid last weekend against the L.A. KISS. Then again, that's not exactly like beating the San Jose Sabercats. They still commit too many penalties to give them a real chance against the better teams in the AFL. Much of the excitement about the win over the KISS is centered around Thomas, who got his first start of the season. He completed 20 of 31 passes for 229 yards, 6 touchdowns and an interception. He also ran for a score. It was a solid outing for Thomas, who was named Russell Athletic Player of the Week for his performance. Thomas spread the ball around to Lacey (6 receptions), Perry (6) and Ashford (4). Odiase has led the team in tackles in three straight games. Goessling has made all 14 of his extra point attempts since joining the Thunder.
PREDATORS
Orlando is sitting atop the South Division with a .500 record. The Predators would like nothing more than to reel off a few wins and won't think twice about trying to make the Thunder one of those. Morris is under center and threw for 271 yards last week in their come-from behind overtime win over the Tampa Bay Storm. However, he completed just 55.8 percent of his passes, which is considered on the low end of AFL passers. Kendal Thompkins had an outstanding game, catching 14 balls for 150 yards and 3 touchdowns. Brian Thompkins added 3 touchdown receptions of his own. Simmons rushed for two touchdowns in the contest. Cook had a team-high 10 tackles. The Predators are billing this game as Military Appreciation night.
