Spokane Shock DE James Ruffin has been named First Team All-Arena.
The Arena Football League announced their First and Second Team All-Arena Defensive Honors and Ruffin was the lone Spokane player to be awarded the honor. The 4-year veteran defensive end ranked 5th in the AFL for sacks (11.5), 8th for tackles for loss (10.5), 2nd for forced fumbles (6) and 1st for fumble recoveries (6). He recorded 28 total tackles and notched one of three recorded safeties scored by the Shock defense (Derrick Summers had the other two).
This is the second year in a row that Ruffin has been named First Team All-Arena. He won the award along with the Krossover Defensive Lineman of the Year for leading the AFL in sacks (14) in 2014. Since joining the Shock in 2012, Ruffin has recorded a career total of 37 sacks.
The league also announced the seventeen other members of the First and Second Team All-Arena winners. The most noteworthy of all was Duane Brooks of the Portland Thunder, who received First Team All-Arena for his efforts in the kick return game.
