Aug. 10 -- Just prior to the Portland Thunder's playoff game last weekend, the team paid tribute to the 2015 regular season.
The Thunder honored their top performers at a banquet on August 13 at Eagle Landing in Happy Valley. They singled out 13 players in the following 15 categories.
Best Hit of the Year - Varmah Sonie (DB)
Defensive Front Player of the Year - K.C. Obi (DL)
Defensive Back Player of the Year - Varmah Sonie (DB)
Offensive Front Player of the Year - John Martinez (FB)
Receiver of the Year - Jared Perry (WR)
Catches of the Year - V'Keon Lacey (WR)/Jamar Howard (WR)
Comeback Player of the Year - Robert Hayes (DL)
Iron Man - Jake McDonough (OL/DL)
Most Inspirational Player - John Martinez (FB)
Rookie of the Year - Perez Ashford (WR)
Special Teams Player of the Year - Duane Brooks (WR/KR)
Defensive MVP - K.C. Obi (DL)
Offensive MVP - Kyle Rowley (QB)
Team MVP - K.C. Obi (DL)
Community Outreach MVPs - Darron Thomas (QB) Brandon Tett (LB)
The Thunder finished their second season at 5-13 and as the fourth seed in the National Conference of the Arena Football League. They were eliminated from the playoffs in the first round by the Arizona Rattlers.
