Aug. 27 -- As he prepares to go into his fourth NBA season, Trail Blazers center/forward Meyers Leonard took some time out to throw out the first pitch tonight at the Hillsboro Hops game.
The Hops were playing the Tri-Cities Dust Devils when Leonard threw out the first pitch prior to the game at Ron Tonkin Park in Hillsboro. They are the defending Northwest League champions and play in the league's Southern Division. Hillsboro is a Single-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks.

This is a huge cup of awesome! I have a feeling he is going to get a little more notoriety around Portland and the Northwest this season. I hope he can capitalize on the increased playing time he's going to get.

How ironic this is. It was just a year ago when so many people were saying Meyers should be traded. Now the fan base is excited to have him here and wants to see what he can do with real time on the court.
