Two days after the Spokane Shock announced they were joining the IFL, the team has made its first roster moves in preparation for the 2016 season.
WR William Dukes, DE Kazeem "C.J." Olaniyan, and defensive back Ace Clark have were the first three signings in the team's first chapter in the IFL. All three players have no experience in the IFL, but two have had mini-camp stints in the NFL.
The standard salary for all players in the IFL is $250 per game across the board, similar to the salary structure that the af2 used to have before the league disbanded after 2009.
William Dukes is a 6'3'', 205 lb wide receiver out of Florida Atlantic. He played all four years for the Owls, playing in 47 games and recording 125 receptions for 1,866 yards and 11 TDs. In 2012, his sophomore season, Dukes caught 63 passes for 979 yards and 4 TD, earning second-team All-Sun Belt honors. He was also named the Owls' Offensive MVP that season.
Kazeem "C.J." Olaniyan is a 6'4'', 270 lb defensive end out of Penn State. He played all four years for the Nittany Lions. In his senior season in 2013, Olaniyan started all 12 games and was tied for 4th in the Big Ten with 3 forced fumbles. He also led Penn State with 5 sacks. His efforts earned him an honorable mention All-Big Ten honors. He recently participated in the Seattle Seahawks' 2015 mini-camp.
Ace Clark is a 6'2'', 215 lb defensive back out of Western Carolina. He played all four seasons for the Catamounts, He played in 43 total games, tallying up 340 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 3 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, 11 pass breakups, and 3 interceptions. He was the unanimous first team All-Southern Conference awards and was selected to play in the 2015 Medal of Honor Bowl and the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. He recently participated in the Seattle Seahawks' 2015 mini-camp.
There's still more work to be done on constructing the Shock's roster, as the Spokesman-Review reported Shackleford had 11 agreements with players to join the team, none of which were players on the 2015 AFL squad.
