for a time, it seemed like fans would not accept anyone wearing Brandon's number 7, but now that Mo has chosen it, i think a lot of us are more accepting. i've seen some comments on twitter about this and started thinking about it myself. i fully expect Brandon's #7 to be retired one day; not for the longevity of his career with the Blazers, but for what it did to lead the team and the city into a new era. i'll always be a fan of Brandon's, but maybe this is a chance to really move on. the way i regard it is that if Brandon had not gone and tried to play for Minnesota (which he really shouldn't have for his own health concerns), then this might sting. however, given that he was a T-Wolf, i can have no issue with someone wearing the number 7. i get this feeling that Mo might be just the right guy to honor that number. ~ MKM

I think it's good. The post-Roy era had a cloud hanging over it, where late in games, everyone just wished that he was somehow available. I think Lillard really helped the organization move on, as well as Roy joining another team. I think this is the final step for the Blazers to finally move past Roy. I agree, though, that he was an important piece in changing the culture of the organization after the Jail Blazers era. Great guy, I'm a huge fan, but it's time to move on and build a team that can get rings!

I'm not sure if there was a cloud hanging over the team, but it is time to move on. The Blazers might still retire #7 for Roy. Remember The Lakers retired Goodrich's 25 decades after he stopped playing, and Eddie Jones had to change his number from 25 to 6

i remember a time when we thought no one should ever be able to wear Roy's #7 (including Coby Karl who wore it in last year's summer play). this year seems different. it's like we turned a corner thanks to Olshey's summer acquisitions. i guess it's not too soon.

Brandon Roy was my favorite when I first started following the Blazers and the only jersey I have is his number 7 black road jersey. When Kasey was first telling me about the Blazers It was all about Brandon and LaMarcus. It's sad that things worked out the way they did for him, but I feel for some fans, maybe a quality player like Mo having his number might bring some closure to the Brandon era. Mo has a terrific history and career so it's all right. It's different than if it was a rookie or bench rider taking the number. I'm all right with it.

I would prefer if he picked a different number, however I had no problem with his decision. As long as Brandon Roy is remembered as number 7....I am happy!

in the press conference, he said he picked #7 because his first three choices were taken. he asked his 8-year-old son what number he should wear and his son said #7 because there are seven people in his family; Mo, his wife and five kids. makes sense to me.

I thought I would have a problem with it but I guess it is time to move forward. I am really excited to see Mo play for us. He is going to help us a lot! Mo can hit the three ball, can make his free throws and gives the opponent something to worry about. He has been doing it all his career. You might say that is his M-O!

so apparently Mo is switching to number 25. comcast's Chris Haynes is reporting that Earl Watson had it, but is still deciding on which number to wear. so, it looks like no one will be wearing Brandon's old number #7. Haynes is also reporting that Brandon has not been informed of any plans for his number to be retired by the Blazers.

So after this whole thread and all where we have all let it go he is not going to wear it anyway. Well thanks a lot Mo!

What happened exactly? Mo thought Earl had 25 so he picked 7, but Earl hadn't picked a number yet so Mo grabbed 25 and Earl is still deciding?
It's MADNESS I tell you. MADNESS!
