JULIANNE'S TAKES
BLAZERS
Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum combined for 43 points in Portland's 12-point loss to the Spurs on Nov. 11. Lillard shot just 7-19 from the field, but dished out 9 assists. Mason Plumlee grabbed 9 rebounds to go along with 9 points. Allen Crabbe has become a solid contributor off the bench, scoring a career-high 17 points in the Blazers' loss to Charlotte. Al-Farouq Aminu, who was limited against the Hornets due to early foul trouble, scored 11 points against the Spurs. In his first game as a Blazer, Gerald Henderson scored 12 points against the Spurs; all in the second half. Ed Davis tallied 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in the game against San Antonio. Key to a Portland win: Play up tempo and make the Spurs run.
SPURS
LaMarcus Aldridge made his return to Portland a triumphant one, scoring a game-high 23 points in the Spurs' win over the Blazers. He is not being asked to be the number one option as he was in Portland. Kawhi Leonard added 20 points and 7 rebounds in that game. Duncan registered 12 points on seven shot attempts. Danny Green is an effective shooter and strong defender.Manu Ginobli is as solid a bench contributor as they come in the NBA. Former Blazer Patty Mills is a change of pace point guard in comparison to starter Tony Parker. Parker is a distributor, while Mills is more of a shooter. Boris Diaw is a solid contributor in the second unit, as is David West. Key to a San Antonio win: Play fundamentally sound.
