Breakdown
GLADIATORS
Duke City waited quite a while to make its IFL debut after announcing the move from Champions Indoor Football to their new league following the 2019 CIF season. After stunning the Iowa Barnstormers in overtime in their first game, the Gladiators turned the ball over three times early in their home opener and were never able to recover in a 55-35 loss to the Tucson Sugar Skulls last week. Nate Davis is completing 71 percent of his passes with an average of 223.0 yards per game. He has thrown a dozen touchdown passes against four interceptions and has also rushed for a touchdown. The Gladiators will look to improve on a rushing attack which has gained just 76 yards through two contests. There is a talented group of receivers, led by Jared Elmore's 16 receptions for 150 yards and four touchdowns. Dello Davis has eight catches for 109 yards with four scores. Gregory Dent, Jr. will also see some targets. Paul Robinson leads the team in tackles, and Ray Jones, Jr. and Karrheem Darrington are standouts on defense.
FIGHTERS
The Fighters are situated atop the IFL standings after two games; impressive as they are, for all intents and purposes, an expansion team playing their first season in the IFL. Even more impressive is that both of those wins came on the road over the Spokane Shock and Louisville Xtreme. This contest is their franchise home opener. Johnathan Bane is completing 61 percent of his throws for 332 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions. Backup Jerrod Heard may also see some action in this one. He's completed both of his pass attempts and has two rushing touchdowns. Demarcus Felton is averaging 34.5 yards per game with three touchdown runs. Lance Evans leads they team with 10 catches for 102 yards and adds a touchdown grab to his resume, and Mark Munson has caught four touchdowns in his five receptions on the season. Trey Caldwell comes in with 13 receptions and four pass breakups, while Joel Dullary has 11 tackles and the team's only two interceptions. Malcome Goines and Charles Williams each have three sacks.
