Breakdown
SHOCK
While Spokane is riding a two-game winning streak, their wins have not been dominant, but rather, they have been doing what needs to be done to get the job done. Their most impressive outing this season was last week's 18-point win over the Northern Arizona Wranglers. Head coach Billy Back and quarterback Charles McCullum were 2-1 together against the Storm when they teamed up against the Storm in 2017 while with the Wichita Falls Nighthawks. McCullum, who was the IFL Offensive Player of the year that season, is getting his footing with the Shock and will look to attack the Shock with several playmakers on the roster. Among those playmakers is Davonte Sapp-Lynch, who was one of the leading rushers in the league in 2019 while with the Nebraska Danger. Troy Evans, Jr., Kamrin Solomon and Jordan Jolly make up a group f talented receivers for the Shock. Cedric Poole and Mike Green are playmakers on defense to keep an eye on, while Ameris Bailey can cause some disruption in the passing game should he see the field.
STORM
After falling to the Iowa Barnstormers in their opener, the Storm have returned to form to win three straight, including last week's dominant performance in their 64-28 win over the Bismarck Bucks. The seven-time IFL champions seem poised to repeat their 2019 title run. They also come in with wins over the Arizona Rattlers and Louisville Xtreme, and hope to continue the momentum this week against the Shock. Lorenzo Brown, Jr. is as steady as they come at quarterback, but the Storm have even taken the position a step higher by inserting 2019 IFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Tommy Armstrong, Jr. into the mix. Both have been key over the past couple of weeks; resulting in two wins. Nate Chavious should get plenty of carries in this one as he is a proven IFL running back. Brandon Sheperd and Jojo Gause are the pacers at receivers, with the latter recording four scoring grabs. Trey Wafford and Marquis Hendrix are major players to watch on defense. Brandon Roe, who leads the team in picks, is out for the year due to a torn ACL.
