Breakdown
STORM
Sioux Falls was on a roll and riding a three-game winning streak until running into the Spokane Shock last week. The Shock looked impressive against the defending champions, coming away with a 50-32 win. The loss will likely serve as a wakeup call as the Storm look to bounce back and get some payback for their season-opening loss to the Barnstormers on May 18. Lorenzo Brown, Jr. is the mainstay at quarterback, but did not play in last week's contest. If he can't make a go of it this week, then Tommy Armstrong, Jr. will get his second straight start. Armstrong was the 2019 IFL Offensive Rookie of the Year with the now-defunct Nebraska Danger. Former Cedar Rapids River King Nate Chavious is among the better backs in the league with 45.2 yards per game and six touchdowns. Brandon Sheperd, Damian Ford and JoJo Gause are a formidable trio of receivers. Trey Wafford and Marquis Hendrix lead the team with 37 and 35 tackles, respectively. Wafford also has a sack and an interception.
BARNSTORMERS
Iowa had won two straight until they were trampled by the Bismarck Bucks last week, 53-22. It was the first time the Bucks had ever defeated the Barnstormers and they did it by stifling Iowa's potent offensive attack. That meant holding reigning IFL Most Valuable Player Daquan Neal to completing just two of 13 passes for 39 yards and a touchdown. Neal will try to bounce back in this game to put away the Storm. This matchup has, of recent years, become a major IFL rivalry. Neal is completing just 49 percent of his passes for 755 yards with 15 touchdowns and a single interception. He also is averaging 59.8 rushing yards per game with seven rushing touchdowns. Elad Covaliu adds to the rushing game with 37 yards per outing along with a pair of touchdowns. Conner Hollenbeck is a tall receiver and end zone threat who has five scoring grabs on the season. Kentrez Bell has come on late as a reliable receiver of late. Tony Jones has 32 tackles and 1.5 sacks to pace the defense.
