Breakdown
SHOCK
Aside from the 4-0 Frisco Fighters, the Shock are the hottest team in the IFL and are riding a four-game wining streak after their 61-37 win over the Northern Arizona Wranglers last week. This test against another red-hot team, the Rattlers, could be a benchmark win should they come away with a win. The Shock boast the IFL's top defense, allowing just 31.0 points per game. Charles McCullum has had a pair of outstanding outings in the past two weeks, including completing an impressive 13 of 15 passes for 164 yards and five touchdowns, along with a rushing score, last week against the Wranglers. He has 12 touchdowns passing and five rushing. Davonte Sapp-Lynch is a bruising runner with six touchdowns on the ground. Kamrin Solomon has emerged as the top receiver for the Shock with six touchdown catches, but also look out for Jordan Jolly and Troy Evans, Jr. in the passing game. Mike Green and Cedric Poole lead the team in tackles. Poole also has two picks. Ameris Bailey leads the Shock with a trio of sacks.
RATTLERS
This is, it appears, an early season playoff positioning match up for the Rattlers as they host the Shock. The Rattlers and the Shock are locked in a tie for second in the IFL standings. The teams play a second time this season (August 13 at Spokane), but this opportunity to draw first blood could be a determiner for both teams as they enter the second half of their IFL seasons. Drew Powell continues to impress as the Rattlers' quarterback. He completes 68 percent of his passes for 700 yards with eight touchdowns and three picks. He is, perhaps, even more dangerous on the ground with his 65.6 yards per game and 12 rushing touchdowns. Veteran Rattler Darrell Monroe is a punishing rusher with five scores in his four games this season. Jarrod Harrington and Jamal Miles are the featured receivers with 270 and 130 yards respectively. Each has four scoring grabs. Devin Cockrell, Dillon Winfrey and Tyrell Pearson are the major playmakers on defense. The latter two have six pass break ups each, and Nikolas D'Avanzo comes in with a team-leading two sacks.
