Breakdown
STORM
Sioux Falls is in prime position to make a playoff run and, by playoffs, that run could mean the difference between home field advantage in the first round and being on the road in round 1. But first, the Storm need to ensure a playoff berth. At 5-4, they are the sixth seed and would visit the Spokane Shock in the first round. The Shock have defeated the Storm in both of their meetings this season. The Storm just have four games left and face a rough schedule which includes these Rattlers and Frisco Fighters. Lorenzo Brown, Jr. is the stalwart quarterback who led the team to it's win last week over the Green Bay Blizzard. However, should Tommy Armstrong, Jr. be back from an injury suffered three weeks ago, Head coach Kurtiss Riggs may go with Armstrong. Nate Chavious is an excellent runner who compliments either quarterback. Brandon Shepherd leads a receiving group which includes Alonzo Moore and Jordan Smith. Trey Wafford and Marquis Hendrix lead the defense, while Wafford and Jermaine Robinson have two sacks apiece.
RATTLERS
Arizona is in the driver's seat as they yearn for the top seed in the postseason. That all starts this week with the opportunity to avenge a season-opening loss to the Storm in Sioux Falls. If the Rattlers win their remaining five games, the top seed is theirs. It won't be an easy task to accomplish as they face the Storm this week, and the Spokane Shock in week 17, before hosting the Frisco Fighters in the season finale. The Rattlers are led by quarterback Drew Powell, the IFL Offensive Player of the Year in 2018 with the Iowa Barnstormers. Powell has completed 70 percent of his passes with 20 touchdown tosses against six interceptions. He is more dangerous on the ground, rushing for nearly 64 yards per game with 19 touchdowns. Look for Nick LaSane to provide the punch at running back. Jarrod Harrington, Jamal Miles and Jeremiah Harris are as good as a receiver trio as there is in the league. Devin Cockrell, Tyrell Pearson and Ricky Wyatt, Jr. are relentless playmakers on defense, and Nikolas D'Avanzo comes in with a team-high five sacks.
