Breakdown
SHOCK
Spokane has dropped its previous two games and seems to be in a bit of a freefall. Currently in fourth place in the standings, the Shock likely will earn a playoff spot, but their own road to a potential playoff spot has some roadblocks. They play the top two teams in the standings in their final two games; the Fighters and and the Arizona Rattlers. A win over either should be enough to earn a trip to the postseason. The Shock were scheduled to close out their season at home against the Louisville Xtreme, but that game was cancelled when the Xtreme's membership in the IFL was terminated after the Kentucky team had played just five games. Spokane is on it's third starting quarterback of the season in Marcus McDade, who is filling in for the injured Charles McCullum and Blake Sims. He gained some traction last week in the Shock's overtime loss to the Massachusetts Pirates, but the team still fell short. They have a talented group of receivers in Kamrin Solomon, Keyvan Rudd and Troy Evans, Jr. Mike Green is the top tackler for the shock with 85 takedowns and Dominic Sanders has three picks.
FIGHTERS
Frisco's road to the top seed in the playoffs is simple. If the Fighters win their remaining three games, including the season finale against the Arizona Rattlers on August 21, They will have homefield advantage throughout the playoffs, including the United Bowl should they advance that far. It's been a spectacular expansion season for the Fighters, who reeled off wins against in their first give games, have won two straight. All 10 have their games have been decided by eight points or less. Jonathan Bane was the starter through the team's first nine games, but he missed last week's win over the Sioux Falls Storm. Malik Henry stepped in for him and led Frisco to the win. Backup quarterback Jerrod Heard sees a lot of time as a rusher and a receiver, and takes some snaps in spot situations. Demarcus Felton is the team's lead running back. Mark Munson leads the receiver group with 24 catches for 365 yards and nine touchdowns. Marques Rodgers and Manny Arceneaux are excellent compliments to Munson. Khalil Williams' 41 tackles leads the team and Charles Williams leads the IFL with seven sacks.
