Breakdown
STORM
Sioux Falls finds itself in a precarious position heading into this visit to Massachusetts, the defending champions. The Storm are on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoff picture at the midway point of their season. At .500, they need to string together some wins to make a postseason push. The Storm are ninth in the IFL in points scored per game (37.8) and points allowed (39.8). Dalton Sneed is likely to get his third start at quarterback. In just two games, he has completed 68 percent of his passes for 221 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions. It's possible Daniel Smith could see some action instead (or as well). Nate Chavious is one of the top rushers in the league. He is second among running backs with 39.5 yards per game and third with 12 touchdowns. Carlos Thompson, Jr. lead the team with 354 yards and eight scoring grabs. Aaron Dilworth and Tim Keith are also playmakers at the position. Marquis Hendrix had 46 tackles and 2.5 sacks, while Paris Taylor has 43 tackles. TaCorian Darden adds 42 tackles and three interceptions. Undraez Lilly's 4.5 tackles leads the team. Sawyer "Deuce Machine" Petre is one of the top kickers in the IFL.
PIRATES
Massachusetts is the defending IFL champion, but the question should be posed: Do the Pirates look like it as of late? They've dropped three of their last five, including two games to sub-.500 teams. Their 30-point loss to the 7-1 Arizona Rattlers last week could serve as a wake-up call as the Pirates look to get back on track with two straight home games. The Pirates are scoring 38.9 points per game (eighth) and are allowing 36.3 (fifth). Alejandro Bennifield, last year's United Bowl MVP, is completing 64 percent of his throws for 1,019 yards with 22 and five picks. He also has a team-leading six touchdown rushes. His leads the team with 26 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. Deddrick Thomas adds 25.4 yards per game on the ground. Thomas Owens is third in the league with 55.5 receiving yards per game (444 yards overall) and second with 12 scoring grabs. Isaac Zico comes in with 27 receptions for 307 yards and six touchdowns. The Pirates' defense is led by Khalid Wooten's 38 tackles. Lukas Denis and Aarion Maxey-Penton formidable in the backfield as they have six picks apiece. Craig Peterson's strong leg could make a difference in this one.
