Breakdown
GLADIATORS
Duke City is just a half game out of the fourth-place Knight Hawks, and a playoff spot, in the Western Conference standings at the midway point in the season. The Gladiators have gone through some ups and downs, but stand poised to make a playoff run. A win in this one could be the start of that run. They are scoring 39.3 points per game (seventh) and allowing 42.1 (11th). Ramone Atkins comes in completing 58.4 percent of his passes for 957 yards, is tied for fourth with 23 touchdowns, and has tossed just a pair of interceptions. He also has six touchdowns on the ground. In the Gladiators pass-heavy offense, Devontae Jackson rushes for 32.3 yards per game with three touchdowns. Dello Davis is tied for first in the league with 471 receiving yards with 10 touchdowns, and Jared Elmore is fifth in yards with 411 yards and tied for third with 11 touchdowns. Byron Cooper leads the defense with 51 tackles and has 2.5 sacks. Jayson Serda has 46 tackles and three sacks, and Jimmy Thomas's 3.5 sacks are a team-high. Veteran Kevin Goessling has taken over as the Gladiators' kicker.
KNIGHT HAWKS
Vegas sits in fourth place in the Western Conference with a, perhaps, surprising 4-5 record. A win in this game puts the Knight Hawks at .500 and a possible chance at third place should the Tucson Sugar Skulls drop their game this weekend at the San Diego Strike Force. Vegas has won two of its last three. The Knight Hawks are scoring 34.6 points per game (10th) and are allowing 36.3 (sixth). Jerod Evans completes over 169 passing yards per game which ranks first in the IFL. He has 11 touchdowns and no interceptions through his three starts. He also is rushing for 27.7 yards per game with four touchdowns. Former Bay Area Panther Jordan Conkrite figures to be the lead back. With Frank Brown and KD Cannon out to injury, Desmond Epps and Jordan McCray to figure heavily in the passing game. They have 261 and 241 yards, respectively, and four touchdowns apiece. Jerricho Flowers is a wrecking machine on defense with 47 tackles and two picks. Meffy Kolomatangi leads the team with three sacks, and Kai Higgins has 10.0 tackles for loss. Nolan Kohorst has been solid as the team's kicker.
