Breakdown
STRIKE FORCE
San Diego looked last week as if it may pull off its third victory of the season last week against the Tucson Sugar Skulls, but were held off at the end. The Strike Force's two highest-game performances have come against the Sugar Skulls (67 and 65 points). Five of their next six games come against teams with sub-.500 records (currently). They are scoring 36.3 points per game (10th) and allowing 53.3 (13th). Last week the Strike Force started their fourth quarterback in nine games this season in Jorge Reyna. He responded by completing 67 percent of her passes for 204 yards with five interceptions and no picks. Davontae Sapp-Lynch rushes for 30.8 yards per game with four touchdowns and can be a force returning kickoffs. Rashad Ross has been the go-go receiver all year, averaging 41.9 yards with seven touchdowns. Marques Rodgers comes in at 30.4 ypg, four touchdowns and six scores on the ground. Daquan Brown's 39 tackles lead the team, while David Haney has 36 tackles and a pair of interceptions. Deshon Cooper adds 26 tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss. Kicker Tanner Kuljian has gotten stronger as the season has progressed.
GLADIATORS
Despite starting out 2-5, Duke City is positioning itself for a return to the postseason in their first campaign under head coach Sherman Carter. The Gladiators have won two straight by an average of 24.5 points. A win in this one against the Strike Force puts them at .500 on the season as they make their final playoff run. They are averaging 40.1 points per game (sixth) and are giving up 39.8 (ninth). Ramone Atkins has proven to be effective in just seven games for the team this season, completing 60 percent of his throws for 1,070 yards, tied for an IFL third-best 27 touchdowns against just two interceptions. He also has seven trips to the end zone on the ground. Devontae Jackson rushes for 26.8 yards per game with five scores. Dello Davis has 483 yards and 10 touchdowns in the passing game, while Jared Elmore has 445 yards and 13 scores. Gregory Dent, Jr. adds 283 yards and three touchdown grabs. Byron Cooper leads the defense with 55 tackles and 3.5 sacks, and Jayson Serda has 52 takedowns and four sacks. Jimmy Thomas adds 4.5 sacks to his 38 tackles.
