That dynamic happened again last year as the Los Angeles Rams hosted and won Super Bowl LVI over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Top Storylines of Super Bowl LVII
SCtoC NFL Analyst, spiderfan counts down the top five storylines of this season's Super Bowl.
MAHOMES VS. HURTS
The biggest storyline may be obvious, but the reason it's obvious is because both Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and Eagles QB have been the frontrunner for the Most Valuable Player award all year long. Both of them are elite At this point, both of them are more focused on being Super Bowl champions than MVP. Both are also still recovering from injuries. There's a lot of other players on both teams who's contributions -- or a lack there of -- will decide the outcome, but in the end when the confetti falls and the Lombardi Trophy is presented, either Hurts or Mahomes is going to be the one that gets the credit for the victory. Who will it be? We shall see.
THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE
It is a football cliché to say the game is won or lost at the line of scrimmage and usually I think that is an overused cliche; especially in the National Football League where the physicality levels are pretty even between teams. This Super Bowl has the potential to be a rare exception. The Eagles offensive and defensive lines have been the best in NFL this in my opinion. When the Eagles play an opponent, I've compared it to when a major Power-5 college team plays a small G-5 college team. The Chiefs offensive and defensive lines are nothing to scoff at, but with how physically dominant the Eagles have been on the line of scrimmage all year the are going to have play at the highest level they've played all year to keep up. If the Chiefs can't keep up or manage to outplay the Eagles on some plays, expect there to be penalties.
CHIEFS RUNNING GAME VS. EAGLES RUNNING GAME
The running game of Philadelphia Eagles this has season has been very impressive to say the least, setting a Super Bowl era record for rushing touchdowns. Eagles RBs Miles Sanders and Boston Scott have been sensational. Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is a major threat on the ground as well having set the single season record for rushing TDs by a QB. The Chiefs combination of rookie RB Isiah Pacheco and veteran RB Jerrick McKinnon have added a dimension to the Chiefs offense they had been lacking for a couple years. Even though both Eagles RB Jalen Hurts and Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes are arguably the two best QBs in the game, if either defense manages to take the run game away, Mahomes and/or Hurts will certainly be put at a disadvantage. If one or even both teams get the game run going, we may be looking at a Super Bowl MVP who is a running back.
CHIEFS WRs VS. EAGLES WRs
Much was made of the Chiefs trading WR Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins over the past offseason and how that had the potential to ruin the Chiefs' passing game. Well, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes nearly set the all time single season passing record, so that narrative turned to be a nothing burger. Chiefs WRs Ju-Ju Smith Schuster and Marquez Valdes Scantling have turned out to be great free agent pick ups. For the Eagles, they have what I would argue is the best WR tandem in the NFL with WRs and AJ Brown and Devonta Smith. Both duos are going to make plays, the questions for me are who makes the big play near or at the end of game to win it and who doesn't make the big play near or at the end of the game ultimately contributing to their team losing?
ANDY REID RETIRING?
Everyone who follows football at this point is either aware or has been made aware that the Eagles were once coached by current Chiefs HC Andy Reid. With the exception of the owner and the stadium, everything has else changed from a personnel and coaching standpoint for the Eagles since Reid's departure 10 years ago, so outside of leftover resentment Reid may or may not have, it shouldn't have much impact on the game itself that Reid once coached the Eagles. The aftermath of the game is what is more interesting to me in that regard. With Reid turning 65 in March, and another Super Bowl victory likely clinching a spot in the Hall of Fame, does Reid decide to call it a career after winning a Super Bowl for the team he tried to achieve that same goal with during the 2000s? It would be a fitting ending to a Hall of Fame coaching career and create a job opening that is sure to become the most desired opening in all of the NFL.

Fun Facts Related to the Super Bowl LVII Participants
-Exact comparison. The Chiefs and the Eagles, through the regular season and playoffs, have each combined for 16-3 records and have each scored 546 points.
-For the first time in NFL history, two brothers will face off in the Super Bowl. Eagles center Jason Kelce and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce aren’t just random players, either. They’re arguably the NFL’s best players at their respective positions. Each was named Associated Press First-Team All-Pro this season, Jason’s fifth time on the team and Travis’ fourth.
-Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts are both natives of Texas. Mahomes was born in Tyler, went to Whitehouse High School and attended Texas Tech University. Hurts was born in Houston and attended nearby Channelview High School.
-Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni both have ties to their opposition. Reid was the Eagles’ head coach from 1999 to 2012, winning a team record 130 games. He never won a Super Bowl, but he won the NFC title in 2004 and had just three losing seasons in 14 years. Reid, 64, took over the Chiefs in 2013 and has never had a losing season in KC. Sirianni was an assistant coach with the Chiefs from 2009 to 2012, serving as offensive quality control coach, wide receivers coach and assistant quarterbacks coach. He didn’t work under Reid, as he wasn’t retained when Reid was hired in 2013.
-This isn’t the first rodeo for the Eagles and Chiefs. Philly has three prior Super Bowl trips and Kansas City has four, plus both have played in the big game in the last five seasons.
-Both of these teams know how to rush the passer. The Eagles led the league with 70 sacks in the regular season, ranking third all-time. The Chiefs led the AFC and were second in the league with 55 regular season sacks. Their pass-rushing dominance has continued into the postseason, with the Eagles totaling eight sacks and the Chiefs getting seven in two games.
-Food famous cities: Philadelphia is known for the Philly cheesesteak, a sandwich made from thin, cut-up slices of steak and melted cheese on a hoagie roll. Kansas City has their own style of barbecue, which includes a variety of slowly smoked meat topped with a thick, sweet sauce.
-Overall, the teams have played nine times, but never in the playoffs. The Chiefs lead the overall series 5-4 and have won the last three games in the series. The Eagles won the previous three times.
-The previous result between the teams came on October 3, 2021 when the Chiefs defeated the Eagles, 42-30, at Philadelphia. It was the first and, thus far only, meeting between Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts as the starting quarterbacks for their respective teams.
-The Eagles won the first-ever matchup between the teams, 21-20, on October 22, 1972 at Kansas City.
-When the teams get off their planes in Arizona, they’ll be entering familiar territory. The Chiefs visited the Cardinals in Week 1 and left with a 44-21 victory, while the Eagles defeated the Cardinals 20-17 in Week 5.
-The Chiefs originally entered the American Football League in 1960 as the Dallas Texans. After three seasons in the AFL, the team moved to Kansas City, Missouri and rebranded as the Chiefs.
-In terms of worth, the Chiefs aren’t even in the top half of the league. The team was valued at just $2.3 billion as of two years ago.
-Despite having a history dating back to 1960, the Kansas City Chiefs have only participated in 31 playoff games and have a 12-19 record overall. Between their first AFL championship in 1962 and their subsequent four Super Bowl appearances, they won five times.
-This is the first time since Super Bowl LII since the top two seeds in each conference meet for the championship. That year the Eagles defeated the New England Patriots, 41-33.
-This is the fourth Super Bowl appearance for the Eagles -- under four different head coaches. They are: Dick Vermeil (SB XV), Andy Reid (SB XXXIX), Doug Pederson (SB LII), and Nick Sirianni (SB LVII)
-The Chiefs averaged the most pass yards per game during the regular season (298), while the Eagles allowed the fewest pass yards per game on defense (180). It’s just the third Super Bowl matchup to feature the top passing offense vs the top passing defense. In the first two instances the defensive team won convincingly. Overall, both units ranked near the top of the league in passing categories.
