BREAKDOWN
Prior to last week, Duke City had dropped three straight and four of its last five. The Gladiators stopped the bleeding with a solid 56-49 win over the Tucson Sugar Skulls last week. The 56 points was their most since the 57 scored in a 21-point win over the expansion Tulsa Oilers on April 8. The Gladiators actually enter the week in fourth place in the Western Conference and would make the playoffs if they began today. A win here could not only improve their potential playoff standing, but also their conference winning percentage -- the first IFL playoff tiebreaker. It would also be their second road win of the season. They score 40.3 points per game (ninth in IFL) and allow 38.3 (third).

BREAKDOWN
San Diego seems to be on the cusp of putting together a playoff run, but has fallen short in the past two weeks. The Strike Force have lost their past two games by an average of a touchdown. They have an opportunity here against the up-and-down Gladiators to pick up a home win during this week's Sunday matinee game to knock on the door to a playoff spot. Including this contest, San Diego plays an even schedule of four at home and four on the road. The offense is much improved with the addition of Nate Davis, and the team has a trio of talented receivers who can put points on the board on any given series. They score 37.3 points per game (13th in IFL) and allow 46.7 (eighth).
