Overview
The following is the 2023 schedule for the Bay Area Panthers, who enter their second season in the IFL.
This Year will mark the 14th complete season (15th overall) of the Indoor Football League. The league is coming off a 2022 season which saw the second-year Northern Arizona Wranglers claim the IFL National Championship with a 47-45 win over the Quad City Steamwheelers in the title game. It marked the fifth time in five seasons the championship (formerly the United Bowl) was won by a different team.
For the second straight year, the league slate will be at 14 teams with 13 returning from last season and adding the expansion Tulsa Oilers. The Bismarck Bucks announced the franchise will go dormant for 2023 while it works to comply with state facility requirements. The IFL is broken up into two conferences; the Western and the Eastern. The conference alignment appears below.
Each team will play a 15-game schedule over 18 weeks with opening weekend for some teams coming on St. Patrick's Day, March 17. Each team has three bye weeks which occur at various points throughout the season. The set up means some teams (Arizona, Duke City, Iowa, Northern Arizona, Tucson, Tulsa, Vegas) will play eight home games and seven away games. The remaining teams (Bay Area, Frisco, Green Bay, Massachusetts, Quad City, San Diego, Sioux Falls) will play seven home games and eight road games. Eight teams, four from each conference, will make the playoffs, culminating with the conference champions meeting in the IFL National Championship Game in August at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nevada.
The Panthers play their home games at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. Their bye weeks come in weeks 1, 4 and 13.
