BREAKDOWN
Sioux Falls didn't get the it had hoped for in last week's season opener at Quad City. The Storm visit the Pirates with the hopes of avoiding a 0-2 to start the season against a team which already has two wins under its belt. A loss here would make for a tough road ahead if the Storm hope to make a playoff run. There is plenty to like about the roster, including one of the better trios of receivers in the Eastern Conference. Billy Hall started at quarterback last week and had mixed results. The question for head coach Andre Fields will be whether those were simply growing pains or whether a better option exists at the position. Dylan VanBoxel waits in the wings. Xavier Jackson and Bryson Denley are a pair of talented backs who can take some pressure off the quarterback. Carlos Thompson, Jr. and Kentrez Bell lead a receiver group which also includes Draysean Hudson. Defensive back LaRonji Vason-McCoy led the team in tackles last week and is the cornerstone of the defense. Cameron Hall, who had an interception last week, is the other noteable back. Claude Davis anchors the line, and Undraez Lilly and Jalen Jackson are solid at linebacker.

BREAKDOWN
Massachusetts comes into the week as the only two-win team, but neither contest has been a cake walk. The Pirates boast an average margin of victory of seven points, which has been enough through two games. The question is whether they can hold off a Storm team undoubtedly hungry for their first win of the season. A win in this one gives them a 3-0 mark and could paint them as the new favorite in the Eastern Conference. Alejandro Bennifield seems to be reacquainting himself with the team after the offseason. He has tossed seven touchdown throws and three on the ground. Jimmie Robinson is the top running back in the IFL and his 73 yards per game show that. Perhaps ironically, he is still looking for his first trip to the end zone this season. Isaac Zico and Teo Redding have been Bennifield's go-to receivers during this early part of the season, and the duo has combined for five touchdown catches. Veteran Thomas Owens is always a threat in the passing game. Matt Elam has been explosive on defense thus far with 13 tackles, three tackles for loss an an interception. Fellow defensive backs Devin Hafford and Eugene Ford also have a pick apiece.
