BREAKDOWN
Quad City became the fourth and final Eastern Conference team to clinch a playoff spot, which it did with a close win on the road over the Tulsa Oilers last week. Following the Massachusetts' Pirates' loss to the Tulsa Oilers on July 19, the Steamwheelers have an opportunity to move into the third spot in the playoffs with a win in this one. They will open the playoffs on a the road at either the Green Bay Blizzard or Frisco Fighters, who are battling for the top spot in the conference. It’s been much of an up-and-down-season, but they have won their last two and three of their last four. They've used a quarterback rotation much of the season, but Judd Erickson seems to be settled in as the starter, but Mike Irwin sparked last week’s win. It’s unclear who will get the start, but viewers shouldn’t be surprised if they see both players during the course of this game. He has tossed 24 touchdowns on the season; good for ninth in the league. Edward Vander is fourth in the IFL among running backs with 21 rushing touchdowns. KeShaun Moore and Malik Owens each have five sacks which ties them for sixth in the league. The Steamwheelers score 43.3 points per game (ninth) and allow 46.1 (10th). Players to Watch: Keyvan Rudd (WR); Jarrod Harrington (WR); Malik Duncan (DB); Darreon Jackson (DB); Trey Smith (DB).

BREAKDOWN
Jacksonville was mathematically eliminated from the playoffs two weeks ago. This gives the Sharks two missions in this final game of the season. They can play spoiler and they can scout their own roster for 2025. The former comes into play this week as the Steamwheelers are trying to earn the third seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. If the Sharks can pull off the upset, they will relegate Quad City to fourth place regardless of what happens with the Massachusetts game at the Tulsa Oilers. The latter is that head coach Jason Gibson and his staff can look at their own roster potential for next year's roster. The Sharks have won their past two games and three out of their last five. Fans may have gotten a glimpse of the future the past three weeks as Kaleb Barker has taken over at quarterback. He’s led the team to wins in two of its last three games. Barker led the Northern Arizona Wranglers to the IFL Championship in 2022. Jaedon Stoshak and DJ Stubbs come in with 45.0 and 38.5 receiving yards, respectively, and have combined 17 scoring catches. Tyler King has found the end zone five times on the ground this season. The Sharks score 37.9 points per game (15th) and allow 48 (13th). Players to Watch: Jeremiah Payton (WR; Harrison Poole (DB); Brandon Munoz (LB); Ulric Jones (DL); Jadarius Byrd (DB).
