Overview
The following is the 2024-25 schedule for the Rip City Remix, the NBA G League affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers of the NBA.
This is the second season for the Remix which was announced as last year's lone NBA G League expansion team on April 26, 2023 (the name, identity and colors were released two months later). The team, which begins play the second week of November, will be coached by Sergi Oliva, who also serves as the assistant general manager for the Trail Blazers. He is originally a native of Gelida, Catalonia. Jim Moran, a former Blazers assistant coach, served as the Remix's head coaches last season.
The G League is comprised of 31 teams with 30 of them serving developmental teams for NBA clubs. Each NBA team has a G League team which is affiliated with it. This year's new addition is the Valley Suns, who became the final team to serve as an NBA affiliate; of the Phoenix Suns. The NBA G-League Ignite, which was not affiliated with any team, folded after last season. The league's only unaffiliated team is the Mexico City Capitanes based out of Mexico's capital city. The league is designed as a farm system similar to professional baseball and each team is allowed to protect up to six players. The league was founded in 2001 as the NBA Developmental League (or "D-League"). When the league gained Gatorade as a sponsor, it was renamed the NBA G League prior to the 2017-18 season. Per a statement from the Trail Blazers, over half of current players on NBA rosters have seen action in the G League.
The Trail Blazers previously had an affiliation with the Idaho Stampede, but severed those ties in a cost-cutting move after the 2013-14 season. The Stampede have since moved to the Sale Lake City area as the Salt Lake City Stars and are still a part of the current G League. The season is broken down into two separate-length sections; the Tipoff Tournament and the regular season.
Portland finished its inaugural 2023-24 season at 18-16 and missed the playoffs. They finished in a three-way tie for ninth in the Western Conference. They were in the playoff race with just over a week remaining in the regular season. In the Showcase Cup (the precursor to the Tipoff Tournament), they went 8-8. The Remix's campaign begins with 14 games consisting of the Tipoff Tournament. Their first four games come on the road, beginning on November 8, before they play seven of their next eight at home. They close out the tournament with a pair of contests at the Stockton Kings. December 27 begins the regular season when they visit the expansion Suns. The home opener comes on New Year's Day as they host the San Diego Clippers (formerly of Ontario, California). They close out the regular season with two games at the Santa Cruz Warriors on March 28 and 29. The Remix's longest homestand of the season is seven games from January 27 through February 10. The longest road trip is five games from February 13 to 28, though the first game takes place prior to All-Star Weekend, February 14 to 16.
Below is the home and away breakdown of the Remix's schedule by month, along with the number of back-to-backs per month. Note that there are no back-to-backs during the Tipoff Tournament in November and December.
The Remix play their home games at Chiles Center on the campus of the University of Portland, located in the northern portion of the city.
