March 8 - The Portland Thunder today, with the help of KOIN sports broadcaster Stan Brock, unveiled their new-look helmets.
The helmet is darker and sleeker than last year's version and seems more consistent with the more historically styled helmets of Arena Football League lore.
It features the Thunder logo with a blueish-hued backdrop of downtown Portland. A darkened nighttime sky is highlighted by lightning streaks.
The tweet below, featuring QB Kyle Rowley, coach Mike Hohensee and Brock, features the helmet unveiling during KOIN's 5:30 p.m. newscast.
The Thunder's season starts on March 27 at 7 p.m. against the Los Angeles KISS at Moda Center at the Rose Quarter.

Well they came up with a reason for the website background to exist now. It's nice to see some things that have been in the works for a while actually getting done.

How long has this been being designed? I wouldn't say it's been in its final form, but I definitely saw similar looks prior to last season. People really don't understand how long the lead time is on a lot of things that get created. The rule tends to be that people want things done fast, cheap, and well - but you can only really choose two of the three. For the most part, since there wasn't much time to do anything that first season, the choice was always fast and cheap.
