BREAKDOWN
Northern Arizona is positioning itself nicely as they are tied for third in the Western Conference standings. The Wranglers just keep getting better and better as their schedule moves along. After a dominant performance at home against the Duke City Gladiators, they are itching for this early season rematch against their in-state rival Sugar Skulls. These teams always play one another tough, which was on full display in the Wranglers’ 54-48 win at Prescott Valley in week 3. That was the first of three-straight wins for the Wranglers and they are looking for their fourth. Josh Jones’ 67.8 percent completion rate is good for fourth in the IFL, and is fifth in the league with a dozen touchdowns. He also is fifth with 138 yards per game through the air. He also is a threat on the ground where he averages 29.5 yards per game to go with five touchdowns. David Elder should also provide some yards in the run game. Arsiah “RZ” McCorker has been a nice surprise for the Wranglers. He is averaging 54 receiving yards per game and has six scores. He also is averaging 22.2 yards per kickoff return with two touchdowns. John Maldonado adds 42.8 yards per catch with five touchdowns. Justin Manyweather comes in with 32.9 yards and a score. Shanon Reed is sixth in the IFL with 25 tackles and is third with 3.5 sacks. Malik Sonnier and Travion Banks have 17.5 and 14.5 tackles, respectively, with Banks adding a pair of receptions to the mix. Axel Perez’s kickoff average is 48.3 yards. The Wranglers score 48.5 points per game (fourth) and allow 43.0 (eighth).

BREAKDOWN
Tucson seems to be going in the wrong direction in the win-loss column. The Sugar Skulls have dropped their last two games and need to rebound as they embark on the next segment of their schedule. Games against the Wranglers are always knock-down, drag-out battles and the Sugar Skulls will need to find themselves on the front end on the scoreboard. They’re still looking for their first home win of 2024 and head coach Billy Back will have his team ready for this opportunity to set their season straight. Torrance Gibson got the start in place of Mylik Mitchell for an undisclosed reason last week, but Mitchell should be back for this game. He’s completing 61 percent of his throws for 133 yards per game with seven touchdowns and two interceptions. He leads all IFL quarterbacks with 67.3 rushing yards per game and is tied for second among all players with nine touchdowns. Mike Jones is averaging 26 yards per game and has four scores on the ground. He also can be a threat as a receiver out of the backfield. Mike Carrigan is the team’s go-to receiver with his 53 yards per game with one score on the season. Demaro McCall and Chris Jackson also may see some targets in this game. Robert Sheffield leads the defense with 19.5 tackles and a pick. Jaylen Floyd and Brayden Utley enter this contest with 17 and 15 tackles, respectively. Demitri Fotinos has a kickoff average of 50.6 yards and a deuce. The Sugar Skulls average 42.8 points per game (ninth) and allow 52.0 (15th).
