Breakdown
RATTLERS
Arizona is riding a four-game winning streak, including a 44-34 win over the Sugar Skulls on June 12. The Rattlers seem to be gaining steam each week as they prepare for the second half of their season and a run toward the playoffs. They sit just a half game behind the 5-0 Frisco Fighters and will look for their second win of three matchups this season over Tucson. Drew Powell has been as good as advertised all season. He's completing 67 percent of his throws for 784 yards with 10 scores and four picks. Powell is, perhaps, even more dangerous on the ground; averaging 71.8 yards on the ground with 15 trips to the end zone. Darrell Monroe is a stalwart running back with six rushing touchdowns. Jarrod Harrington and Jamal Miles have caught four touchdown passes on the season and Braxton Haley has come on of late. Devin Cockrell's 29 tackles leads the team, though four other players have 20 or more. Nikolas D'Avanzo comes in with three sacks and Dillon Winfrey has 10 pass break ups.
SUGAR SKULLS
Contrary to the Rattlers, Tucson has dropped four straight. That includes last week's last minute loss to Northern Arizona which saw the Wranglers pick up their first win as a franchise. The Sugar Skulls return home to take on the Rattlers. A win over Arizona would give them their first win over the Rattlers in six tries. Dixie Wooten's group has their work cut out for them, but the veteran coach will have his team ready for this one. Demry Croft has been efficient for the better part of the season. He is completing 62 percent of his passes for 916 yards with 17 touchdowns and five picks. Croft averaged 49 yards on the ground with six scores. Mike Jones is a punishing rusher who leads the Sugar Skulls with eight scores on the ground. The receiving group is led by Ryan Balentine, who became the IFL's all-time receiving yards leader two weeks ago. Delondo Boyd comes in with a team-leading 31 tackles and an interception, while Michael Minter has a pair of picks and four pass break ups. Mike Elam comes in with five pass break ups
