Breakdown
RATTLERS
Arizona is right where it wants to be during this home stretch of the regular season. The Rattlers are 10-2, they've clinched home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs and they control their own destiny when it comes to earning the top seed and home field throughout the playoffs. That includes United Bowl should they advance to that championship game. The Rattlers need to win this week on the road against the Shock and home in next week's finale against the second-place Frisco Fighters in order to make that happen. Drew Powell has been to two United Bowls as quarterback of the Iowa Barnstormers in 2018 (won) and with the Rattlers in 2019 (lost). Powell's 71 percent completion percentage with 26 touchdowns and six picks. He also leads the league with 67.9 rushing yards per game and 30 touchdowns. Darrell Monroe and Nick LaSane are strong compliments to Powell in the backfield, and Jarrod Harrington and Jamal Miles combine for 16 receiving scores through the air. Dillon Winfrey leads the Rattlers with 55 tackles and six interceptions, while Devin Cockrell adds 51 tackles. Nikolas D'Avanzo comes in with six sacks on the season.
SHOCK
The good new for Spokane is that they have clinched a playoff berth. However, after three straight losses, they battling for a chance to host a First Round Playoff game. This is the final game of the regular season for the Shock as they were supposed to host the Louisville Xtreme next week. The Xtreme's membership in the IFL was terminated after they had played five games. Much of the Shock's recent troubles have come from injuries at the quarterback position. Charles McCullum went out during the first matchup against the Rattlers on June 25 and Blake Sims was lost to another injury three weeks ago. Enter Marcus McDade, who has gone 0-2 as a starter the past two weeks. McDade comes in completing 56 percent of his passes along with nine touchdowns and six interceptions. Without Davonte Sapp-Lynch in the lineup, the Shock don't have much of a running game. However, McDade has plenty of targets. Keyvan Rudd has stepped up, catching eight passes for 101 yards and a touchdown last week. Keep an eye on Kamrin Solomon and Jordan Jolly as well. Mike Green leads the Shock with 91 tackles along with an interception and Dominic Sanders has three sacks.
