Breakdown
STORM
Sioux Falls has a chance to reverse its fortunes and solidify its playoff positioning. That won't be easy as the Storm have lost both previous games this season to the Barnstormers. Still, this is a veteran team led by a veteran coach and quarterback. The Storm will look to put it together during their last two games. Wins this week and in next week's finale at home against the Green Bay Blizzard would easily clinch a spot in the postseason. These are two attainable wins for the Storm, who tend to peak around this time of the season. Lorenzo Brown, Jr. is completing 56 percent of his passes with 14 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also has rushed for a half-dozen touchdowns. Nate Chavious is the lead back, averaging 39.2 yards per game with 15 touchdowns. Brandon Sheperd is a gutsy, talented receiver with 521 yards and five scores. Alonzo Moore, who had two touchdown catches two weeks ago against the Arizona Rattlers, should also see some targets in this one. Marquis Hendrix leads the team in tackles with 76, while Trey Wafford has 74 tackles and three interceptions.
BARNSTORMERS
There is an old adage in football; it's difficult to beat an opponent three times in a season. Iowa will try to do just that as they battle the Storm to try and solidify their own playoff positioning this week. Prior to last week's win over the Bismarck Bucks, the Barnstormers had dropped three straight and fell into the ninth position. After defeating the Bucks, the Barnstormers have new life and find themselves in the thick of the battle for one of the four final playoff spots. There are even some scenarios which could elevate the Barnstormers to the fourth seed and a home playoff game in the First Round. It all starts with Daquan Neal, who is completing 53 percent of his passes with 26 touchdowns and six picks. The dual-threat Neal also averages 45.2 yards per game with 13 scores on the ground. Elad Covaliu is an opportunistic runner whose 10 touchdowns make the defense respect him. Carrington Thompson, Sr. and Daylon Pearson are the top receivers for the Barnstormers as they take the field. Tony Jones leads the defense with 66 tackles and three sacks, and John McClure has 10 pass breakups.
