WRANGLERS
To say northern Arizona's inaugural 2021 season was disappointing would be an understatement. Going 1-13 is not a recipe for success, and it is seldom that a mid-season coaching change makes a marked difference. However, the Wranglers, like the San Diego Strike Force in 2019, got a late start to their opening seasons. Bring in Les Moss as head coach after being released from the Iowa Barnstormers. moss is a head coaching legend in the Arena Football League and the National Arena League. he will attempt to make his mark as an IFL head coach with his new squad. Not an overabundance of information is available regarding the Wranglers roster. Kaleb Barker is the only announced quarterback on the roster, though there is likely a competition involving a couple of others. There are six wide receivers on the training camp roster, though none have at least significant experience at the indoor game. What the team can boast is a couple of veteran leaders as defensive back Emmanuel "Pop" Lacy and defensive lineman Whitney Richardson, who appear to be the only players re-signed from last year's team. Add to that defensive lineman Ulric Jones, who comes over from the National Arena League's Columbus Lions. Moss is clearly building this roster from the bottom up, which should make the wranglers an interesting team to watch this season.
KNIGHT HAWKS
Vegas is the newest entry into the IFL and they intend to hit the jackpot. Head coach mike Davis is going to put together an exciting young team. He already has brought in some talent and will take the field for the first time in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson. They have some players with some definite Indoor -- and IFL -- experience in quarterbacks Dalton Sneed and Jaylon Henderson. perhaps the most notable player on the roster is Elad Covaliu, who was a major force in the Iowa barnstormers' run to the playoffs last season as both a running back and a receiver out of the backfield. Covaliu can be the workhorse in any offense with his power rushing and inept ability to gain positive yardage when called upon. He will certainly be the centerpiece of this offense. There are six receivers on the roster. Jordan McCray, Traveon Samuel, Frank Brown, Kasey Allision and Tre Frederick and Darren Woods are poised to make a difference in the passing game. Defensive backs Kyree McLean, Kalen Hicks, Jericho Flowers and CJ Jones are players on which to keep an eye. Gabe McCoy and Javahn Ferguson will be counted on the be the playmakers at the linebacker positions. IFL veteran Nathan Criswell will handle the kicking for the Knight Hawks. As with any expansion team, this team will be young, but they will be hungry and look to immediately make their mark.
