Breakdown
STORM
Coming off a bye, Sioux Falls has a chance to rebound from its March 28 loss to the Iowa Barnstormers with their second meeting of the season against the Steamwheelers. The Storm. The teams clashed in the season opener with the Storm utilizing a strong second quarter to hold off the Steamwheelers by an 11-point margin. Tasleem Wilson has stepped in admirably for perennial Storm starter Lorenzo Brown, Jr. and led the team to wins in its first two games. He threw for 202 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the first meeting against the Steamwheelers. The former Bismarck Buck also rushed for 56 yards and a score in the game. Nate Chavious is about as solid of a running back as you'll find in the IFL, and scored a pair of touchdowns in week 1. Kahliq Muhammad, Jawill Davis, Tim Keith and Carlos Thompson, Jr. make up a young, but talented group of receivers for Sioux Falls. The Storm defense is led by linebackers Marquis Hendrix and Paris Taylor, defensive lineman Warren Thomas and defensive back Famus Hasty. Sawyer Petre, who has hit the lone deuce in the IFL this season, is one of the better kickers in the league.
STEAMWHEELERS
Quad City faced a tough task last week as they went up against the defending champions, but ran into what has become a Pirates team with one of the top defenses in the IFL. The Steamwheelers were competitive through most of the game, but just could not get over the hump. Getting revenge against the Storm in this one would put them back on track and even their record at 2-2. David Perkins has been effective at the quarterback position, throwing for 282 yards with five touchdowns and a single pick through three games, but veteran Aaron Aiken is waiting in the wings. Kerrion Moore is a solid back with three rushing touchdowns and a receiving score, but is even more effective as a kick returner. Mike Carrigan leads the Steamwheelers with 104 yards off 10 receptions with a touchdown. Keyvan Rudd is the veteran leader of the receiving group. Isaiah Grice and Londell Lee both scored touchdowns last week against the Pirates. Darrreon Jackson and Jaylin Swan pace the Quad City defense, with the latter having recorded two sacks so far this season. Kimo Naehu's strong leg could be a difference maker in the kicking game.
