Breakdown
RATTLERS
Arizona is precisely where it expected to be after three games this season. The Rattlers are 3-0 with all three games coming within the Western Conference. Two of those wins came over the Duke City Gladiators, who have struggled after losing starting quarterback Nate Davis. A meeting against a spunky Knight Hawks expansion team could provide the best test of the year thus far. Drew Powell is the clear leader of this team at the quarterback position. he is completing an impressive 76 percent of his passes for 406 yards per game with 10 touchdowns and two picks. He also leads the Rattlers with 40.7 rushing yards per game and a score. Aside from Powell, Jamal Miles makes the Rattlers' offense move with his two receiving touchdowns and rushing score. Braxton Haley is the top receiver with a dozen catches for 168 yards and two scores. Isaiah Huston has caught 12 passes for 128 yards and four touchdowns. Davontae Merriweather and Kyree Woods lead the defense, with the latter adding a pair interceptions to his 2022 resume. Ernesto Lacayo is easily one of the more accurate kickers in the IFL.
KNIGHT HAWKS
Vegas has experienced a strong start to its inaugural season. The Knight Hawks stand at 2-1 on the season and, playing at home, may be able to knock off the Rattlers. Meaning, Vegas could turn this into a trap game for Arizona. That's just what Mike Davis' group will try to do. The Knight Hawks have looked good in all three games and scored a franchise-high 53 points last night in a 26-point win over the Bay Area Panthers on April 4. Jaylon Henderson has taken over as the quarterback, and has been impressive. he is completing over 60 percent of his passes and has a league-high 10 touchdowns and no interceptions. Elad Covaliu is a power back who can spring for a big play at any time. He had his best game last week against the Panthers with three rushing touchdowns; all in goal line situations. Frank Brown is the league's top receiver with 17 grabs for 203 yards and four scores, and K.D. Cannon comes in with 104 receiving yards a four touchdowns. Jerico Flowers, C.J. Jones and Mister Harriel pace the defense, and Izaah Burks has a pair of sacks. Nathan Criswell, while historically solid, has struggled this season in the kicking game.
