WRANGLERS
Northern Arizona won for the first time on the road in their history last week with a 31-point whomping of the expansion Bay Area Panthers. The Wranglers have one four of the last five, and have become the surprise story of the IFL this year after finishing just 1-13 in their 2021 inaugural season. They are scoring a fourth-best 43.5 points per game and allowing a second-best 32.7 points per game. Kaleb Barker has been the quarterback from the get go and has been effective. He enters this contest completing 62 percent of his passes for 843 yards, 18 touchdowns and six picks. He also leads the team in rushing with 32.3 yards per game along with four touchdowns. Stanley "Boom" Williams has five touchdowns on the ground. Quentin Randolph is second in the IFL with 415 yards and tied for first with 10 touchdowns receiving. Glen Gibbons has 169 yards and three scores. Mercardo Anderson leads the team with 32 tackles and four interceptions. Ulric Jones anchors a talented defensive unit with 18 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss. Brandon Fischer has been effective in the kicking game.
KNIGHT HAWKS
Vegas has struggled at time this season to uncertainty at times this season. The Knight Hawks pulled off the stunner last week against the defending champion Massachusetts, and at Worcester to boot. They have set them up as new contenders after dropping three straight. The Knight Hawks are averaging 32.1 points per game and are allowing 37.0 points per game. The good news for the Knight Hawks is that they appear to have found their quarterback. Jerod Brown was spectacular in his debut last week, completing 71 percent of his throws for 203 yards and four touchdowns. He rushed for 48 yards and another three scores. Elad Covaliu comes in with four rushing touchdowns and another five through the air. The teams top receiver, Frank Brown was put on season-ending IR this week after suffering a leg injury against the Pirates. That leaves KD Cannon and Jordan McCray to lead the group. Jericho Flowers leads the defense with 38 tackles to go with 4.5 tackles for loss, while Kyree McLean has two interceptions. Izaah Burks has 2.5 sacks. Craig Peterson features a strong leg as Vegas' kicker.
