Breakdown
WRANGLERS
The math is simple. If Northern Arizona wins this one over the Rattlers, the Wranglers will clinch the first seed in the Western Conference and earn home field advantage through the conference playoffs. The Wranglers are the top story of the IFL season this year and are already guaranteed a home playoff game in the first round, on July 23. They are scoring 42.2 points per game (fifth) and have the league's top defense at 29.7. Kaleb Barker was activated from suspension last week and may or may not be available for this game. Former Vegas Knight Hawks quarterback Jerod Evans started last week in a last-minute comeback win over the Duke City Gladiators. Either or both could see action here. Israel Tucker is a versatile back who can cause problems for opposing defenses in both aspects of the offense. Ulice Gillard and Jerrime Neal have combined for 15 touchdowns. Mercardo Anderson leads the team with 42 tackles and four interceptions, while Darin Hungerford comes in with 38 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Ulric Jones also has 4.5 sacks and Kenton Bartlett has 3.5. Brandon Fischer has been a reliable kicker for NAZ this season.
RATTLERS
Arizona finds itself in an unfamiliar position -- in second place in the conference standings. The Rattlers were stunned three weeks ago when the Wranglers scored in the final seconds to steal their first-ever win over the Rattlers. Arizona will hope to reverse their fortunes and even take a lead in the conference playoff race to the top spot. Arizona is the top scoring team in the league with 54.1 points per game and allows 31.4 (second). Drew and Powell leads the lead with 1,942 passing yards. He is completing 65.5 percent of his throws with 39 touchdowns and six picks. He is fourth in the league with 579 yards to go with 19 touchdowns. Shannon Brooks rushes for 31.3 yards per game with 14 touchdowns. Braxton Haley is third in the IFL with 751 receiving yards, along with 14 touchdowns. Jamal Miles has 541 yards and 10 touchdowns, and four touchdowns in the ground. Davontae Merriweather leads the team in tackles with 77.5, while Dillon Winfrey comes in with a league-leading eight interceptions. Trevon Williams adds 56 tacklers and six sacks. Ernesto Lacayo is a veteran kicker capable of a big kick at any time.
