Breakdown
STRIKE FORCE
San Diego was eliminated from playoff contention a couple weeks ago, but this game serves two purposes. The first is for coaches to take a look at whom on the current roster may be invited back for next year's training camp. The second, simply put, pride. Ending the season with a win over the Pirates would end the season on a high note. The Strike Force are scoring 38.7 points per game (10th) and allowing 50.0 (13th). Jorge Reyna has been the quarterback the past seven games with a completion rate of 59 percent for 168.1 yards per game with 27 touchdowns and two picks. He is rushing for 36.6 yards per game with five touchdowns. Travon Van is the threat out of the backfield with 11 passing and receiving scores. Marques Rodgers leads all receivers with 54 catches for 607 yards and 11 touchdowns, along with seven rushing scores. Amechie Walker and Kris Lewis also are active in the passing game. Daquawn Brown and David Haney have 56 and 53 tackles, respectively. Heaney leads the team with four interceptions. Penaia Moa and Ishmael Adams combine for 78 tackles. Aedan Johnson enters his third game as San Diego's kicker.
PIRATES
Massachusetts is firmly locked into the second seed in the Eastern Conference. The Pirates will host a first round playoff game. They're just waiting to see which team they might be hosting. The Iowa Barnstormers, Sioux Falls Storm and Quad City Steamwheelers are battling for the final two spots and any one of them could earn the third seed. The Pirates are scoring 40.8 points per game (eighth) and allowing 37.0 (fourth). Quarterback Alejandro Bennifield returns this week after missing the last seven games due to injury. Last year's United Bowl MVP is completing 67 percent of his throws for 1,227 yards, 26 touchdowns and five picks. He also has rushed for 200 yards and nine scores. Deddrick Thomas has 330 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Thomas Owens is second in the IFL with 842 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns. Darren Carrington II and Isaac Zico combine for 971 yards and 18 scores. Lukas Denis leads the team with 54 tackles. Aarion Maxey-Penton adds 48 tackles and five picks. Khalid Wooten and Chucky Williams each come in with 40.5 tackles and two sacks. Veteran Josh Gable is as steady as they come as the kicker.
