Breakdown
STRIKE FORCE
After picking up its first win over the season two weeks ago, San Diego was primed to make some noise in last week's matchup against the defending champion Northern Arizona Wranglers. But, the Strike Force came out flat, managing just nine points. The Strike Force traded both their quarterbacks (Aaron Aiken and Demry Croft) and defensive lineman Jeremiah Caine to the Duke City Gladiators for Nate Davis, one of the top passers in the IFL. Davis completes 64 percent of his passes for 712 yards with 19 touchdowns and five interceptions. Marques Rodgers leads the receiving group with 21 catches for 253 yards and three touchdowns. Carlos Thompson, Jr. averages over 20 yards per catch and has two touchdowns, while Kentrez Bell has 145 yards and three scores. Clayton Glasco paces the defense with 20 points, while DJ Morgan and Lawrence White have 16 and 15.5 tackles, respectively. David Haney adds 14 tackles and two interceptions. Aedan Johnson is solid with 47.2 yards per kickoff.
SUGAR SKULLS
Tucson remains the lone unbeaten team in the Western Conference. The Sugar Skulls have reeled off three straight wins on the season. What's more impressive is that all three of those came on the road, including a 54-48 win at the Arizona Rattlers on April 8. They are outscoring their opponents by 9.7 points per game. Ramone Atkins has been excellent to start the season. He is completing 60 percent of his throws for 391 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also has rushed for 79 yards and three scores. Mike Jones' 101 yards and four touchdowns leads the Sugar Skulls' ground attack. Carrington Thompson, Sr. is Atkins' top target with his 21 catches for 221 yards and seven scoring grabs. MJ Harris and Cornelius Raye should also fit into the mix on the receiving game. Trae'varis Farrell leads the team with 16.5 tackles and five tackles for loss, while Rashie Hodge has 12 tackles and two picks. Mike Minter and Carlton Gonzales have 13 and 12 tackles, respectively. Victor Leventritt enters the game averaging 47.7 yards per kickoff.
