BREAKDOWN
Duke City is desperately looking for a win, but has to try and achieve that against one of the co-leaders in the Western Conference standings. That may not appear to be a recipe for success, but the Gladiators stayed close with the Eastern Conference-leading Frisco Fighters four weeks ago before falling by nine. The Gladiators will look to recreate that magic after scoring a season-low against the Northern Arizona Wranglers in a 16-point loss last week. Geremy Hickbottom took over at quarterback last week and struggled through the air, completing just 31 percent of his passes for 44 yards with two interceptions. He had more success on the ground with 51 yards and all three of the Gladiators’ touchdowns. Jon Jund threw just two passes with one going for an interception. Alphonso Howard is also listed on the team’s roster so it’s up in the air which one will get the start here. Jeff Carr averages 24.5 rushing yards per game to go with a touchdown. The receiving group is full of talent, but is looking for a quarterback to get them the ball. Gourney Sloan averages 41.3 receiving yards per game and leads the team with five touchdown catches. Greg Dent, Jr. has nine receptions for 130 yards and three scores. LaQuvionte Gonzalez and Tyron Laughinghouse are playmakers who can strike at any time. Aaron Jackson leads the team with 24 tackles and an interception, and Trevaughn Claybourne has 15.5 tackles on the year. Ernesto Lacayo averages a mighty 56.9 yards on his kickoffs and has five deuces. The Gladiators average 36.0 points per game (14th) and allow 44.3 (10th).

BREAKDOWN
With this contest, Vegas has an opportunity to go 5-0. The Knight Hawks keep piling on the wins during this early part of the season and they are seeing the rewards in the standings. They make their way back to Nevada after a cross-country trip which say them route the Jacksonville Sharks by 25 in Florida. There is a lot to like with the Knight Hawks’ performance this season; not the least of which is both their offense and their defense rank in the top five in the IFL. Ja’Rome Johnson has not only been a nice surprise, he has emerged as an early season MVP candidate. He is third in the league with a 67.2 completion rate and 151.5 passing yards per game, and fourth with 14 touchdown passes. Johnson also is tied for second with nine touchdown runs with 54.5 rushing yards per game. Antonio Wimbush is averaging 40 rushing yards per game to go along with two touchdowns, and is also a threat in the passing game. Quentin Randolph is the team’s top receiver with 16 catches for 232 yards and four touchdowns through the first four games. Caleb Holley comes in with 12 catches for 175 yards and a team-high five touchdown grabs. Defensively, Makel Calhoun is tied for seventh in the league with 24 tackles and has a pair of sacks. James Ceasar adds 21 tackles and an interception, while Bryce Hampton has nine tackles and leads the team with three picks. Kevin Macias is averaging 48.1 yards per kickoff and has three deuces on the season. The Knight Hawks score 52.8 points per game (second) and allow 38.8 fifth).
