BREAKDOWN
Jacksonville is desperately looking for its first IFL win. The Sharks’ transition from National Arena League champions to their new league has been rocky to say the least. Only, change the them of rocks to boulders. They have yet to break 35 points in a game and are looking for an influx of offense. A little defense would be a good thing as well. They seem ready for a breakout came, but the question is whether that game will come against the Oilers, or at another point in the future. Expect Fred Payton, Jr. to get his third start at quarterback for the Sharks. He comes in completing 62 percent of his passes for 143.5 yards per game with five touchdowns and a pair of interceptions. He also rushes for 27 points and five touchdowns per outing. Payton has engineered the team to its season high in points, 35, twice. Stanley “Boom” Williams has been a nice acquisition. He’s appeared in two games, but his 47 rushing yards and two scores raised some eyebrows last week. Jeremiah Payton leads the team with 65.3 receiving yards per contest and five touchdown grabs. Kamrin Solomon comes in at nearly 40 yards per contest and a team-high six scoring receptions. Harrison Poole’s 31 tackles are tied for seventh in the IFL and Jabari Gorman’s is tied for ninth with 30. Poole also has an interception. Brion Murry adds 20 tackles on the season. Frankie Onate averages 48.2 yards per kickoff with three touchbacks. The Sharks score 29.6 points per game (16th) and allow 45.8 (12th).

BREAKDOWN
Tulsa is coming off one of its most impressive wins in his one-and-a-half-year history. Their 72 points last week at the Quad City Steamwheelers shattered their previous franchise high of 56. The game proved another important factor: They can prevail in a close game, and even in a shootout. Both of their losses this season have been to the same team; the perennial Eastern Conference powerhouse Frisco Fighters. Their three wins have come over teams which appear beneath them in the conference standings. A win can put them in the thick of the playoff race. Daniel Smith ranks in the top half in the league with a 66.7 completion rate and 146.8 yards per game. He’s thrown 13 touchdowns against two picks, and also rushes for just over 25 yards per game with nine scores. Jarrod Ware, Jr. can be a force in both the running and passing games. Alexis Rosario leads all active receivers with 66.3 yards per game to go along with nine touchdowns; the latter number ranks third in the IFL. With Joshua Crockett on IR, it will be up to Jonathan Nance and Montero Dubose to pick up some of the slack in the passing game. Jordan Jones’ 31.5 tackle rank sixth in the league; just three behind leader Jefferson Fritz of the Sharks. Tre Harvey comes in with 26.5 tackles. Noah Lyles co-leads the league in sacks with four, while Romon Morris has two interceptions. Michael Hall averages 45.4 yards per kickoff with a pair of touchbacks. The Oilers are averaging 44.8 points per game (eighth) and are allowing 44.1 (10th).
