RIO RANCHO, NM - Depending on your perspective, this could have been very pretty or very ugly.
The Duke City Gladiators pressured Northern Arizona Wranglers' quarterback Verlon Reed, Jr. all night long en route to a 71-11 win tonight at Rio Rancho Events Center. The win pulls the Gladiators closer to a playoff berth as they improve to 6-6 on the season with just two games left. What's left on the slate for the Gladiators is a visit to the Bismarck Bucks and a season close-out at home against the Bismarck Bucks.
The Wranglers, fell to 1-11 on their inaugural season, were unable to score an offensive touchdown during this game. The 71-points scored by the Gladiators equals Duke City's total in the teams' previous matchup. During an extended stretch, the Gladiators outscored the Wranglers 41-0.

The Wranglers turned the ball over on downs on their opening drive, they got the ball right back when Cam Pruitt intercepted Gladiators quarterback Nate Davis. The Gladiators were able to score on a safety due to a wild snap over the head of Wranglers quarterback Verlon Reed, Jr. and into the end zone where Reed was forced to bat the ball out of bounds. The Wranglers got on the board with a rouge on the ensuing kickoff when Duke City's Dello Davis was unable to return the ball out of the end zone, giving the Gladiators the unusual football score of 2-1 midway through the opening quarter. Duke City scored on a 21-yard touchdown pass from Nate Davis to Dello Davis before Northern Arizona added a field goal to make the score 9-4 by the end of the quarter.
It was all Duke City in the second quarter, first scoring on Nate Davis' five-yard run. Travis Holland scored for the Gladiators with a three-yard run with a minute left on in the first half. After a turnover on downs by the Wranglers, the Gladiators scored once more on a touchdown from Nate Davis to Jared Elmore with 26 seconds left. Duke City led 30-4 at the intermission.
The Gladiators continued their momentum to open the third quarter, scoring on a touchdown strike from Nate Davis to Elmore. On the next drive, Reed was intercepted by Robert Brown of the Gladiators. Duke City capitalized with a touchdown from another Davis-to-Davis hookup.
Brown picked off Reed once again. and the Gladiators made them pay with a touchdown run from backup quarterback Javin Kilgo who entered the game in relief of Nate Davis due to the wide score margin. The Wranglers put a touchdown on the board in a 43-yard interception return by the defense. The Wranglers finally scored a touchdown; not by the offense, but the defense in a 43-yard interception return. A five-yard run from Roy Jones, Jr, normally a defensive back but making an appearance on offense, made the score 57-11. Duke City added a safety when it blocked a long field goal and the ball was batted out of the end zone by Caden Walters, who came in for some mop-up duty for Reed. The Gladiators scored once more on a 51-yard interception return from Brown.
Nate Davis tossed four touchdown passes and rushed for another score to lead Duke City's offense. He now has 69 passing touchdowns on the season and can break the IFL all-time record of 75 set by Charles McCullum of the Wichita Falls Nighthawks in 2017. McCullum currently plays for the Spokane Shock, but is injured
