BREAKDOWN
Northern Arizona has been a bit of a conundrum this season but, even with a late-season quarterback change, they find themselves one game away from a repeat trip to the IFL Championship Game. The Wranglers split the season series with the Panthers, but scored their lowest point total of the season (13) in their week 6 loss to Bay Area. Nick Watson was impressive in last week's first round game against the Arizona Rattlers. He seems to have settled in at quarterback since replacing Garrett Kettle with two games remaining in the regular season. When it comes to offense, Ramaud Chiaokhiao-Bowman and Ryan Wisniewski combine for 1,462 yards and 34 touchdowns on the regular season. Wisniewski and Leading tackler KiShawn Walker made the IFL's All-Rookie Offensive and Defensive Teams, respectively. Conor "Dropkick" Mangan earned All-Rookie Special Teams honors. They score 39.3 points per game and allow 40.4 through the opening round of the playoffs.
QUARTERFINAL RESULTS
The Wranglers forced four first half touchdowns to take a 34-14 halftime lead over the Arizona Rattlers. In another league or sport, that might seam insurmountable, but not in the IFL. The Rattlers rallied in the third and early fourth quarters and actually took a 47-42 lead midway through the fourth, and held a 53-48 lead with 53 seconds to go. Watson hit Chiaokhiao-Bowman for a 38-yard go-ahead touchdown, and Dorian Walker clinched the game with a 25-yard interception within the final 34 minutes of the game. Watson through for 222 yards and six touchdowns in the win, and Chiaokhiao-Bowman caught eight passes for 158 yards and five scores. Walker and Kerry Starks each had an interception. Recap. Boxscore.

BREAKDOWN
By any measurable means, Bay Area's season has already been a success. After finishing their inaugural year 1-15, the Panthers revamped their coaching staff and find themselves in the Western Conference Championship Game. They're looking to accomplish what the Wranglers did last season. After finishing 1-13 in 2021, the Wranglers turned it around to win the championship in just their second year. The Panthers have an opportunity to do the same in this, their second season in the IFL. Quarterback Dalton Sneed and running back Justin Rankin get the attention, but receiver Nih-jer Jackson and lineman Amari Catchings made the All-Rookie Offensive Team. Defensive lineman Tevaughn Grant and linebacker/defensive back Antwon Kincade earned the same honors on the defensive side of the ball. They score 51.3 points per game and allow 43.4 through the first round of the playoffs.
QUARTERFINAL RESULT
Bay Area appeared as if it was going to run away with their first round contest against the Tucson Sugar Skulls. The Panthers jumped out to a 22-0 lead in the first quarter, but a couple Ramone Atkins' short touchdown runs made the game a contest in the second quarter. The teams went back-and forth in the second half, but Tucson never got closer than five points with 3:35 remaining. Rankin added a late touchdown run to cushion the 46-34 win to send the Panthers to this contest. Rankin rushed for 53 yards and two scores in the win. The real effort was on defense where Kincade had 12 total tackles and Wes Bowers added 10.5 of his own, as well as a sack. Grant had a sack, four tackles for loss and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. Recap. Boxscore.

Game Venue - SAP Center
SAP Center in San Jose, California opened in 1993 and seats over 17,000 for indoor football and ice hockey. The Panthers are the second indoor/arena football team to call the arena its home. The Arena Football League's San Jose Sabercats played home games there during their entire tenure in the AFL. The arena is also home to the San Jose Sharks of the NHL. It's also been home to numerous hockey teams and the NBA's Golden St. Warriors in 1996-97.
