BREAKDOWN
Iowa has been on a bye since its season-opening loss at the Green Bay Blizzard and will look to get back on track this week against the Oilers; a team they spit with last season. The Barnstormers missed last season's playoffs after reaching the postseason in 2022. They are certainly are hoping to get back to playoff action this season. Including this contest, the Barnstormers will have played four of their first five on the road. Darius-James Peterson appears to be shaking off some rust after missing most of last season with a leg injury. He is completing just 42 percent of his throws, but rushed for 73 yards and three touchdowns in the opener. Robert Washington is a dual-threat back with 61 yards off 13 carries, as well as three receptions for 21 yards. Quian Williams is another receiver to watch in the passing game. Jefferson Fritz's 9.5 tackles was the tops for the team, and Kaleb Brewer added 4.5 tackles and 'Simeon Gatling had 3.5. Tyrell Pearson has the team's lone interception and Chuckwumeka Manning the teams only sack. Gabriel Rui's 36.6 yards per kickoff is largely affected by a number of squib/shorter kicks in against the Blizzard.

BREAKDOWN
Like Iowa, Tulsa is also coming off a bye week after debuting in week 2. That one was an overtime loss at the Frisco Fighters two weeks ago in which the Oilers led in the fourth quarter before the Fighters forced overtime and emerged with the win in the extra period. The Oilers are looking for their first win of 2024 and this as good of an opportunity as they may find in this early part of the season. Daniel Smith has settled in at quarterback for the Oilers. Smith was part of the Barnstormers' team which defeated the Oilers in Tulsa late last season. In the Oilers opener this year, he completed 57 percent of his passes for 113 yards with two touchdowns and a pick. Smith also rushed for 25 yards in the contest. Joshua Crockett had five receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown, and Alexis “Lex” Rosario hauled in four passes for 26 yards and a score. Bennett Harvey and Jordan Jones led a talented defensive effort against the Frisco, holding the Fighters to just 25 points in regulation. Noah Lyles recorded two sacks and Taylor Hawkins picked up an interception. Austin Neufeld's kickoff average is 46.4 yards.
