BREAKDOWN
Green Bay just may be the surprise of the Eastern Conference. At 4-1 the Blizzard’s only loss of the season has come to the now 5-1 Massachusetts Pirates in the season opener. Since then, they have reeled off four straight wins. Defense is clearly the calling card of this year’s team as they allow a league-low 32 points per game. That’s 3.6 points better than the Bay Area Panthers who place second in that category. With as much attention the defense gets, the offense is capable of putting up points in a hurry at times. Max Meylor is having a solid season in his second year as the Blizzard quarterback. He comes in completing 56 percent of his throws for 115.8 yards per game with 10 touchdowns and two interceptions. He also averages 37.5 rushing yards per game to go with nine scores. Jalyn Cagle has three rushing touchdowns and one kick return for touchdown. Lowell Patron is the lead receiver with 48.2 yards per game and four touchdowns. Harry Ballard III has rthree scoring grabs, including a spectacular one last week featured on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10 Plays. Ravarius Rivers is a ball hawk who leads the team with 30 tackles. Cyntell Williams is right behind with 29.5 tackles and an interception. Scean Mustin and Abdul-Wahid add three and 2.5 sacks, respectively, and Mustin has eight tackles for loss overall. Andrew Mevis averages 41.9 yards per kickoff with four touchbacks. The Blizzard score 39.0 points per game (12th) and allow 32.0 (first).

BREAKDOWN
This is not your father’s Sioux Falls team. And, coming into the season, no one probably expected that to be the case. On the other hand, no one probably saw a 0-5 record through week 7 coming. The Storm have been competitive for stretches of games, but have yet to really put together a full game. They came close last week against the Massachusetts Pirates, but still fell five points short. Facing the Blizzard’s stout defense and the face that Green Bay is one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference May not help matters. Billy Hall has started all five games under center, but veteran (and future Hall of Famer Lorenzo Brown, Jr. has been back with the team for a couple of weeks and should be caught up with the offense. Hall is completing 61 percent of his passes for 114.8 yards per game with 12 touchdowns and two picks. He also rushes for 61.8 yards per outing to go with eight touchdowns. Then again, two-time IFL United Bowl MVP Brown could be the change of pace that the Storm need at this point in their season. Kentrez Bell leads the receiving group with 52.2 yards per game and five touchdowns. Carlos Thompson, Jr. and Lorenzo Thompson could see targets from either quarterback. Elijah Reed’s 29.5 tackles lead the defense, while LaRonji Vason-McCoy has 22. Dean Sarris is averaging 50.7 yards per kickoff with three touchbacks. The Storm average 37.2 points per game (13th) and allow 46.8 (14th).
