BREAKDOWN
After losing both games of a back-to-back to the Bay Area Panthers, San Diego righted its ship last week with a quality home win over the Northern Arizona Wranglers. The result puts the Strike Force in a tie for third place in the Western Conference with the Wranglers. They sit just a game back of the second-place Panthers and two games behind the conference-leading Knight Hawks. This could be the biggest test yet of the season for the Strike Force and could put them in early season position to compete not only for a playoff spot, but a home game in the first round. Nate Davis’ five touchdown throws last week added to his 24, which is second in the IFL. His 166 passing yards per game also are second in the league (both to San Antonio’s Sam Castronova). Chance Bell has emerged as the lead back and paces the team with six rushing touchdowns. Arthur Jackson III and Marques Rodgers served an unspecified length of suspension last week and would be a welcome addition in the passing game should their suspensions be lifted. Jordan Kress has five touchdowns and nearly 40 yards per game. Isiah Cox and Elijah Lilly are likely to factor heavily in the passing game. Defensively, Sherrod Williams is among the leaders in tackles with 36 to go along with a sack. Justic’e King and Atoa Fox each have 27 tackles and combine for three interceptions. Conor Mangan took over the kicking duties last week and averaged 50.0 yards per kickoff. The Strike Force score 49.0 points per game (fourth) and allow 43.8 (eighth).

BREAKDOWN
Vegas is literally sitting atop the IFL world after defeating the Bay Area Panthers at San Jose last week. It was the battle of the unbeatens which turned into a convincing win for the Knight Hawks. Vegas is in the top three in points scored and in points allowed, and is on a roll heading into this one. A win over a much-improved Strike Force team could be a further indicator of the team’s progress this season. The Strike Force possess a potent offense, so this could turn into a shootout very easily. A win keeps the Knight Hawks the league’s only undefeated team. Ja’Rome Johnson has been outstanding this season. He’s completing 63 percent of his throws with just two interceptions and his 18 touchdown tosses rank fourth in the IFL. He is even, perhaps, even more potent on the ground as he is second in the IFL with 15 rushing scores and 46.3 yards per game. Former Iowa Barnstormer Antonio Wimbush is a formidable rusher and receiver out of the backfield with three combined touchdowns. Quentin Randolph and Caleb Holley come in with 46.7 and 44.7 receiving yards per game. Holley has eight touchdown grabs and Randolph has seven. CJ Windham adds seven scores through the air. Makel Calhoun and James Ceasar are tied for ninth in the league with 32 tackles apiece, and Bryce Hampton is right behind with 30.5. Calhoun co-leads the league with four picks. Hampton is the co-leader in interceptions with four, and Ceasar has three. Keven Macias averages 47.7 yards per kickoff. The Knight Hawks average 52.5 points per game (second) and allow 37.5 (third).
