BREAKDOWN
Jacksonville got its first taste of IFL success last week with a win at the Tulsa Oilers. The team has been more competitive over the past few weeks and it’s paying off. This is going to be a rough test as the Fighters look to keep their sights on the top seed in the Eastern Conference. The Sharks will look to continue their good fortune with a roster which has been retooled and looks like, with a full turnaround, could make some noise as the second half of the season approaches. The 47 points scored against Tulsa last week was a season-high for the Sharks. After this game, the Sharks play three of their next four games at home. Fred Payton, Jr. has settled into the quarterback role quite nicely. In three starts, he’s hitting 67 percent of his throws for 165.4 yards per game with 10 touchdowns and a pair of interceptions. He also rushes for 35.7 yards per game to go with three scores. Stanley “Boom” Williams is a punishing runner who can break a big run at any time. Kamrin Solomon and Tamorrion Terry and are Payton’s go-to receivers with eight and three touchdown grabs, respectively. Jeremiah Payton has been a solid addition with 56.5 receiving yards per game and a half-dozen scoring grabs. Jabari Gorman and Harrison Poole are among the league leaders in tackles on the season. Frankie Onate averages 47.9 yards on kickoffs. The Sharks average 32.5 points per game (16th) and allow 45.5 (13th).

BREAKDOWN
Frisco split its last two games, a back-to-back, with the San Antonio Gunslingers and now return home to face the Sharks, who picked up their first victory of the season last week at Tulsa. The Fighters are locked in a tie atop the Eastern Conference standings with the Massachusetts Pirates, who visit the Iowa Barnstormers this week. The Fighters play the early game of the weekend and there’s no telling whether that will have an effect on their play – nor that of the Sharks. Following this game, the Fighters will play four of their next five – and six of their next eight – on the road. TJ Edwards is the top dual-threat quarterback in the IFL, though he sustained an injury last week at San Antonio. He leads the IFL with 19 rushing touchdowns and adds 10 passing scores. If he can’t go, Larry Harrington would get the call. Harrington threw for three touchdowns and rushed for three more to lead Frisco to the win. Martez “Meatball” Carter is the lead rusher with nearly 50 yards per game and three touchdowns. Devon McCoy has emerged as the top receiver with 40 yards per game and four touchdowns. Veteran Phazione McClurge amassed 66 receiving yards and two scores against the Gunslingers. Ethan Caselberry leads the defense with 26.5 tackles and Lionel McConnell comes in co-leading the league with four interceptions in addition to 22.5 tackles. Bryce Crawford averages 48.9 yards per kickoff. The Fighters score 51.3 points per game (second) and allow 41.7 (fifth).
