BREAKDOWN
Quad City may be kicking itself a bit as it enters the playoffs. Multiple options were open to the Steamwheelers heading into week 18's season finale at the Tulsa Oilers, but the worst-case scenario is the one which unfolded. They were a win over the Oilers away from claiming the second seed and a home playoff game (along with the Massachusetts Pirates' loss to the Sioux Falls Storm). However, the Steamwheelers ended up on the short end of their outing and fell from third to fourth. They're looking for the upset, much in the same way as they upset the Fighters last season in the Eastern Conference Championship Game. Quarterback E.J. Hilliard is second in combined passing/rushing touchdowns with 74 and the receiving corps is as talented as they come. Darreon Jackson finished the season tied atop the league with eight interceptions. They score. 49.5 points per game (fifth in IFL) and allow 47.9 (10th).

BREAKDOWN
Frisco has to be pleased with their regular season results. A 13-2 record with those two losses coming on the road at the hands of teams which made the playoffs. The losses also came over a span of three weeks. The Fighters have reeled off five straight wins over that span and look to enter the postseason on a high note. They've made the playoffs now in all three of their IFL seasons, but have yet to make it to the United Bowl/National Championship Game. This year could be different as the talent level seems a notch above that of previous seasons. TJ Edwards is a bona fide MVP candidate who can hurt opposing defenses on the ground or through the air. He's accounted for more touchdowns this season than any other player. Martez "Meatball" Carter averages 59 yards rushing per game and they have an 800-yard receiver in Jerminic Smith. They score 53.6 points per game (second in IFL) and allow 38.7 (first).
